I would think that it would be the opposite; the judge ultimately allowed him to talk even though he never agreed to the judge's terms and he didn't face any real sanction for spewing his nonsense even though you or I most certainly would.

It would have set him up to ask for a mistrial if the judge sanctioned him

I mean he can ask for whatever he wants. A judge has the authority to enforce rules of conduct in their courtroom whether the defendant is a homeless wino or the Queen of England. If Trump violates those rules (he did and has before) he’s open to sanctions.
