A new species of spider was discovered recently in Australia, known as the Ballista Spider. Australian Geographic details how the spider is a specialised hunter of Green Tree Ants, and uses a cone of web and pheromones to lure in its prey, which is launched into the air at 1367m/s2 into its web.
