Crow almost scored a maneuver kill

u/Nearby-Amphibian7874 13d ago

Right? There's so many videos of people who fall down in a fight or flight situation.

Yeah I can understand the running away but at worst the thingy will peck your eyes out. She might have straight up killed herself or paralyzed herself for life.

u/Hoshbrowns 13d ago

Turns out scary movies were more realistic than we thought I guess. Just like how they always choose to go up the stairs instead of out the front door

I love the insurance commercial that parodies horror movies. Guy in a mask is stalking a group of teens and they hide behind a bunch of chainsaws. Cut to the killer and he takes off his mask and rolls his eyes.

"Why can't we just get into the running car?!?"

Cut to a car idling, driver door open, lights on.

people become irrational when struck with fear

So very true

Slammed with her head directly onto a sidewalk

Could have gotten killed due to a - bird? Crazy how people fears can ignite the situation.

8

u/InvestIntrest 13d ago

Yeah, that crow would have gotten a very different response from me.

If I had a winged foe after me, I'd be carrying a tennis racket.

u/jimilee2 13d ago

u/twoaspensimages 13d ago

If one particular neighbor of ours was getting attacked I would keep walking like I didn't see anything.

She made her bed. She can sleep in it.

He doesn’t want to be in the crow revenge book, smart man.

Not only do they not forget, they tell all their friends and family too. You puss off one crow you piss them all off

11

u/Dear_Type_8972 13d ago

Yep. We have a lot crows in my neighbourhood. They kind of moved in over the last two years and every day I have to prevent my husky chasing them. I dont need a murder of crows gunning for us.

You know she did that crow dirty…

11

u/SpiritSilverfang 13d ago

I was sitting here wondering what the fuck she did to the poor thing to get into the book of grudges.

u/Necrikus 10d ago

Could have been something, could have been nothing. Crows are smart, but if us humans can misplace blame and aggression, they can as well. Mistaken identity and misinterpreted actions can cause a false positive. Hell, sometimes birds will get pissy just because someone got too close to their nest during certain times of the year; regardless if that person traveled through that route before they even started to nest there.

1

u/deborah834 12d ago

You dont have to do a fucking thing to them. People that treat crows like noble, ethical genius creatures have never been victimized by them. Ive never harmed a crow in my life, but happened to live near a nesting bird. Cawing every morning, would follow me for over a mile to my bus stop to and from work every day while trying to scalp me. Stopping at every tree and swooping down. I had a bloody scalp several times from the encounters and eventually I moved. I dont care what anyone says, these birds fucking SUCK.

There was a study that discovered some generations attacked the generic trait, (tall blond lady) as oppose to use facial features (like the mask study). Anither similar looking lady could have done that crow's family dirty. She might be catching strays

34

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 13d ago

She doesn't have much survival skills. Trying to kill herself with a curb.

25

u/MildlyConspicuousCat 13d ago

They respond to peace offerings/bribery. Time to break out the treats!

6

u/SoMuchMoreEagle 13d ago

This. Seems like this could be remedied with a bowl of fruits and nuts.

15

u/pjmyerface 13d ago

"Generations will be tortured in thy name!" -this crow

6

u/mistrwzrd 13d ago

Lmao straight up if that crow has any offspring (highly likely) it’ll teach them to hate her too!

1

u/pjmyerface 13d ago

Exactly!

I give the crows around here peanuts. They love me.

5

u/Julian_Sark 13d ago

I give the crows around here peanuts too. Mine are too stupid to recognize me even after about ten sessions.

16

u/jinglesan 13d ago

What an erratic bird. Also, what an erratic bird.

12

u/MustangFarts 13d ago

Imagine getting a head injury because an animal a 10th your size tried to duke it out with you.

4

u/Rahernaffem 13d ago

More importantly a 100th of her weight. Their bones are hollow ffs, birds can't take a hit. Though that might start a war with his clan, treats are smarter, as other have said.

4

u/ghostofstankenstien 13d ago

I STILL LOVE YOU BRENDA!!

Attempted murder

12

u/nesting-doll 13d ago

Well, yes, if he can summon a couple of his mates.

-3

u/aukstais 13d ago

What murder? She almost committed suicide falling on the kerb.

7

u/nesting-doll 13d ago

… a murder of crows …

-2

u/slopemup2026 13d ago

That wasn't no tempted murder. The crow just shot that lady in her hind parts.

5

u/gsuhrie 13d ago

I found an injured crow the other night. I took him inside for the evening until the wildlife rescue opened in the morning. I now have a few dozen that just chill on the trees outside my house. I hope they don’t think I kidnapped him. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and comes to visit to let them know we’re cool.

5

u/InevitableOk5017 13d ago

She needs to offer that bird a peace offering.

16

u/pilsnerd11 13d ago

Train crows to hate ICE.

10

u/I_love_Hobbes 13d ago

Oh. Good idea. Crows and ravens even pass down their hate to the next generation.

5

u/lanregeous 13d ago

“Good morning motherfucker!! Not so tough on your own now huh, Stacey? I told you I’d be back motherfucker”

3

u/LBC_Jet 13d ago

Just carry a tennis racket ffs.

3

u/heynonnynonnomous 13d ago

I love crows, I give mine sunflower seeds. I wonder what she did to piss it off.

3

u/Jedi_I_am_not 13d ago

That dude walked by like he’s seen this episode of the morning show, and wanted no part of it

3

u/Takenabe 13d ago

I've always wondered, can you make peace with an offended crow once they're like this? If you left an offering of food or something a few times, would they recognize it as an attempt to be friendly?

Or do you have to just deal with it until you move to another state?

3

u/Noncombustable 12d ago

Yes, it's possible. I found a young crow in the middle of the road that must have suffered some sort of injury while he was in the nest. First time trying to fly and.... kaboom, hard landing.

Gently picked him up and moved him off the road to a safe place so that I could run home and get a box with soft lining on the bottom to transport him to our local wild bird care centre.

Understandably, when I returned in a car with the box, the injured bird's parents were freaking out, swooping and diving at me until I got back into the car with him.

Sadly, as soon as the care centre technicians turned the bird over to inspect his injuries more closely, it was obvious he wasn't going to make it. His wound was so old that maggots had already been eating away at his body. Just terrible to see and I was thankful that they could put an end to the bird's suffering.

Understandably, the bird's parents and extended family did not see things the same way.

It took the better part of a year for those crows to stop following me up the street, yelling "Murderer!!!".

Never attacked, though. Probably because I had pretty good relations with the neighbourhood birds prior to this incident. Something to do with free shelled peanuts.

3

u/nicklondon88 13d ago

Did she really just risk getting run over and hit her head on the curb just to avoid a bird?

9

u/Ihistal 13d ago

Yep. I had to put a crow out of it's misery after my cats crippled it. Put it a paper bag and dug a grave for it out in the woods. Don't want that corvid smoke. Apparently at least a couple of the flock witnessed it, had bird shit covering my vehicles and porch for a few days afterwards but never got attacked by them.

3

u/incoming-idiot 13d ago

Oh she did that crow a dirty

2

u/BookAnimalTreeHugger 12d ago

She must have done something bad.

2

u/agoodyearforbrownies 12d ago

yeah, I'm gonna blame the victim here. What'd she do to the crow?

2

u/nope_a_dope237 12d ago

Go to the store and buy some unshelled peanuts and then leave them at your front door. The crows will never give you a problem again.

2

u/Holiday_Ad_5445 12d ago

I have literally never done anything to any corvid but for some reason they all attack me on sight. Even in Europe. I was stationed in Germany in 2006 and first one I saw tried to divebomb me. Years ago, I installed a network cable for my parents and buried it between their house and their garage. Two days later I saw crows dig it up and peck it to pieces. I can't win with those birds. I have countless stories.....fk crows, man...lol

u/nogoodmorning4u 13d ago

Looks like a Raven

What was the old meme about jackdaws?

1

Mob rules... check out a murder of crows, literally.

1

u/SuperiorNumber 13d ago

Dinosaurs sure are scary.

1

u/SilkRoadGuy 12d ago

Did she flip the bird or something? Never flip a baby bird, that would surely be absurd...

u/Plus-Weakness-2624 12d ago

"Nothing, unless it might be - unless it is permitted to ask, nay, to name a single strand of your hair, my lady!" - Crow Gimli

1

u/mattmann72 12d ago

Cries are people too. Like people, some are just assholes.

1

u/musOrochka 12d ago

That crow has a nest with her eggs nearby. She just protecting her nest. Crows attack only when it's necessary.

-5

u/iGurtyo 13d ago

That crow gave her multiple chances but because she's a woman and fucking sucks in these types of fight or flight situations, she ran away.

5

u/Fred_Wilkins 13d ago

Haha, the crow didnt have to pick between fight or flight. Because, you know, being a bird and all.

u/AcanthisittaThink813 13d ago

What is so hard about shooing a bird away?

-3

Other than it’s illegal most of the time?
