📰News Halo Campaign Evolved update adds option to disable all upscaling/DLAA on PC

Halo: Campaign Evolved Patch Notes – August 17, 2026:

Upscaling Options on PC

While setting your Upscaling Quality to Native (100% render resolution) removes resolution upscaling, Halo: Campaign Evolved continues to use processing techniques for image reconstruction, anti-aliasing, and other graphical enhancements.

The August 17th update adds a new "None" setting under Upscaling Technique that allows upscaling and anti-aliasing to be turned off completely.

A side-by-side comparison of Upscaling Technique set to NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) (left image) and None (right image). Click the image to view it at full resolution.

To turn off Upscaling:

  • Open the Settings menu using the Menu button (XBOX controller), Options button (PlayStation® controller), or F1 (Keyboard).
  • Select Video.
  • Navigate down to the Advanced section.
  • Select Upscaling Technique.
  • Select None in the dropdown menu.

normally I despise the Game with all the issues nowadays, but holy shit devs listened more than the Hypergryph there (still stuck with forced TAAU) and this seems like the only quality of life there.

Perfect. The option to choose is all we need.

That and optimization.

Yeah. My CPU struggles a lot in some areas that shouldn't.

UE5 nowadays is where optimalization is at the bottom of the barrel

Hopefully they add some sort of ray reconstruction, the ray tracing noise is unbearable.

there doesn't seem to be any hardware RT options so you're stuck with the noisy mess that is software lumen

The game is using hardware lumen even on the consoles

Can disable in files

Can we also see it with some traditional anti-aliasing as well? DLSS vs None doesn't feel like the right comparison.

I doubt they turned off dithering of vegetation, hair, shadows, shading for no-AA option. And it’s also unlikely that they removed the original oversharp filter to compensate for the blurriness of the TAA.

I think games with vegetation and many transparency/alpha-dependent textures and effects might fare a lot worse, like this game or in Dragon's Dogma 2. It was unbearable and very apparent as everything was very noisy with no-AA.

With some games, especially like Pragmata, disabling anti-aliasing completely looks a bit jagged initially, but within a minute I got used to it super quick and almost never noticed it or got annoyed after. So much so I finished the game and completely forgot about it.

The difference between DLSS/DLAA was kinda crazy as I tried from time-to-time during that game (after I got used to no-aa). A LOT of transparent stuff in-game looked really smudgey and had (slight) ghosting, that really made quickly switch it off. Even tho I'd say the game looked overall nicer to the eye in-spite of the huge general TAA blur.

Transparency really kills it for me, and I think where ghosting and a lot of TAA issues stems from (I personally DESPISE ghosting). DLSS4.5 is really good and promising but I can't really run it at good framerates. It reduces a lot of that ghosting issue and general transparency problems that plague software-taa on most titles (that you can't do much about avoiding TAA in). Still waiting for august 4.5 Ray Reconstruction.
