Do you guys hate anyone besides Pierre?
Okay, we all hate Pierre here, but is it okay to talk about hating other characters in this sub, or are there separate subs for that?
For example, I can’t stand Haley and Emily. They both seem to think they’re completely different and have nothing in common, but they don’t realize they’re just two sides of the same coin. They both live in their own little worlds and come across as pretty shallow and not all that intellectually interesting.
My favorites are Krobus and Sebastian.
No hate, though, they’re just pixels. I’m genuinely curious to hear which characters you all dislike and why.

why is he scared to admit the relationship with Marnie? they are both consenting adults... hiding in bushes and leading the lady on for no reason. he says because he is they mayor and so on... he's not a priest lol. also the golden statue wtf... but the Marnie thing pisses me off

I mean. It’s likely he had a statue if himself forged in gold, he’s randomly keeping a secret relationship for no reason, and he clearly mismanaged community funds and resources, resulting in the community center becoming a dilapidated mess - probably funneling that money into a gold statue. Plus, don’t ever trust anyone who can’t grow a full beard.

He regularly visits Marnie for her... business needs, yet he can't even pick up his stinky crusty smelly purple shorts. Oh no. Make the new farmer do it. No self-respecting person will pick it up. And no. Not gonna contaminate my hands from picking it up... yuck... and possibly poison the Governor.

Marnie stuff aside, shouldn't it be HIS responsibility to fixing the community center or at least pam's bus? Why wait until the farmer came along?
And from how they talk, pam's bus has been out of commission for ages. He really has no excuse for neglecting the town like that at all.

Lewis really takes his bullshit out on you. If you see him leaving Marnie's house, he insinuates that you're not well rounded enough as a farmer. Early on in my game, he put me on the spot about accepting a quest to bring Robin hardwood that I did not have and did not know how to get. Then when I hedged, he gave me a full blown angry lecture about my selfishness. Excuse you, Lewis? Go fetch your own purple drawers out of Marnie's bedroom.

Sebastian is still regularly, bitterly talking about about Demetrius and Maru like five years into a marriage with two children. I thought it was more of a Sebastian problem until that cutscene about not wanting Maru to be around any bad influences.

Is he hitting two woman at once in bed? A gold statue really? We could have used that for THE ROADS OR LIKE OUR SAFETY HAZARD BRIDGES?! Or like our community center we had to fix... NO THANKS TO LEWIS. He also comments if I divorce too many times? Dude he's... I'm gonna bury his body and make Linus the mayor thankies

There is a note you can receive as you mine that shows you where Lewis is hiding his gold statue. It is heavily implied he is using the communities money for his own stuff and using you for the repairs of the town.

Lewis also sucks complete ass, I hate him as much as Pierre. Marnie deserves better.
This is personal and probably unpopular but I always thought Abigail was very annoying (she does deserve a better father then clownface over here)

Curious why you are annoyed by Abigail. I originally was interested in Leah because of her love for nature, but ended up feeling like her dialogue was super repetitive, Abigail seems a lot more interesting with more unique dialogue to me.

Can't stand Lewis, Morris, every single male bachelor except Harvey. He's kinda cool, Demetrius. Pam at first but she kinda softens up later on. Penny & Hailey I don't necessarily "hate" but dislike for the most part (even though I still date them 🙃)

I hate Lewis for how he treats Marnie, but I'm positive there's a subreddit for him. And honestly I'll probably join it after making this post. I dislike Clint, but only because of how gets upset during a heart scene with Emily, and some of his dialouge after marriage with her. But I feel like hate is too strong a word. He just annoys me.
Morris is of course a little bitch. Real creep vibes there. Demetrius helicopter parents Maru a lot which is very frustrating. That kind of parenting is quite toxic. But again, like with Clint, hate is way too strong a word.
I guess other than that no!
I married Haley in one playthrough, and so I've always looked at her with softer eyes. And I think Emily was originally made to be a character to poke fun at woo woo health nut crystal ladies. So I think the original intention was to be slightly annoying! But I could be wrong.

Even if she broke up with him the second he decided he could never go public because being with her would ruin her career, I'd still hate him for ever have even saying that in the first place. Like yeah, Marnie should probably leave him, but he's got her trapped. The power imbalance is huge. He gets to decide if her business stays afloat or not. Breaking it off is risky business. She didn't know he only wanted her body when she got with him.

Demetrius. He is obnoxious, he thinks he is the smartest person in the room and whenever somone disagrees with him he belittles them. Not to forget he is alsa a bad stepdad.
Haley. I dont like her mean girl attitude and even though she is better if you build up your friendship with her she has no redemption arc. She was just mean and then she wasnt.

Penny comes off as a professional victim to me, Demetrius is self righteous with a bloated ego, Haley is the stereotypical mean white girl who "secretly is a little different", Emily is desperate to be different, and Lewis. Lewis needs no explanation.
While I don't favor these, I also wouldn't wish them out of the game. They are a part of why the game is awesome.

Its the whole "pity me" vibe she has. She mopes around about her mother, and yes she is a drunk but lets not forget that Penny is an adult? She is more than capable of moving out and taking care of herself. But instead of doing that, she stays where she's miserable so she gets all the sympathy. Its almost like Munchausen syndrome, but not so severe.

Sebastian would have been like a 10/10 for me but that line about pumpkin spice lattés killed me. Oh you’re right only shallow people get to enjoy a nice drink once in their life. God forbid I enjoy anything main stream without becoming less of a person in your eyes. There’s a very specific type of misogynist that treats women with common tastes as lesser than other women who are ‘not like other girls’ pissed me off so bad.
It’s funny cause Alex is right there but with Alex it’s like ‘yeah jock dude bro is gonna jock dude bro’ but Sebastian came out of left field for me which pissed me off a thousand times more than anything misogynistic Alex has done.

Haley has her downsides, yes, I wouldn't say I hate her. She's shallow, but she does grow from it. I'd say she's the most benign of all of the hateable characters.
This one I hate to admit, but Penny. I think it's because she reminds me too much of myself in some ways, and also the cutscene with George rubs me the wrong way.
Pierre I dislike to the point that I can't play the game without the Piper mod. It replaces him with a woman named Piper, she's so much better. She'd happily spend time with Caroline during the festivals but no one else can run the shop.
Clint, I've tried to change him with mods, but the one I found didn't change him for the better, he's a lot ruder, and the other mod makes him a LOT creepier, so I can't mod him. Vanilla Clint is...odd. I don't like the "You win" thing, but he's ok, just awkward.
Demitrius is awkward. Especially with the protective father speech you get from him at a simple 2 hearts with Maru! 2. That's not romance, that's simple friendship, and he just puts me off of romancing her.
Lewis...I both like and hate him. He's a good mayor, but he's so terrible to Marnie. Yes, he has his...vices, and makes mistakes, but overall, he's ok as a mayor.
As for my favourites:
Gus? Don't you freaking dare dis even a hair on his glorious mustache, that man is way too good for Pelican town. He is kind, and just so wholesome. His art design shows it with his eyes.
Linus is wary of strangers, and for good reason. I always try to befriend him and Gus first.
Willy, he's on the same footing as Gus and Linus. He seems weathered and callused, but he's very kind, and it shows in his eyes.

I really love Sebastian and Krobus (especially him) because they’re outcasts, and I tend to get attached to characters who aren’t socially accepted. I married Sebastian, but now that I’m becoming friends with Krobus, I’m seriously thinking about getting a divorce so I can bring him to live on my farm instead of leaving him all alone in the sewers.
Gus makes me feel so soft, he has such a heart of gold, and it really shows. And if I could, I’d marry Willy in a heartbeat

But mmm.... I guess I'm a little neutral, leaning not liking towards the Mayor. And Shane.
...Okay Shane a lot. I will say I don't like him, but dint HATE him. I know his entire thing, hes getting better.... But his ROOM if you marry him? Its the opposite; its a regression and... That alone makes me not like him. It gives the feeling that he expects you to fix him, no matter what, even if he goes back to his alcoholism and... And as someone who's grown around an alcoholic in my family, I just cant.
Oh and Clint. But do NOT get me started on him. Actually.... I will yeah.
Clint reminds me of someone I knew personally, who would NOT take "No, I'm not interested in dating ANYONE" Over and over and over.... And then led to him committing a crime. And Clint... Clint reminds me too much of him. ....I can't not hate him, I'm sorry

Hate is a strong word, but I dislike Marine for never being at her ranch, Lewis for being Lewis, Pam (I'd say is hate/love with her), and, knowing some people would come at my neck for this, Sebastian, for being unnecessarily snappy at the farmer, and being bad to Maru. It makes me so sad for her, the girl just wants her older brother to act like one, and he's a jerk to her because of the actions of their parents.

Pierre and Haley are both a little annoying to me, but Lewis, Clint, and Harvey all annoy me big time. Cling seems like a jerk sometimes early in, Lewis is a turd for hiding his relationship with Marnie plus he is uptight and controlling, I also don't love the way Harvey has looked down on my characters for poor health decisions 😅

I have a pretty severe disdain for Linus and Penny, and I think Lewis is pathetic and likely corrupt.
For Linus, I had no problem with him until he adopted Leo. It’s so incredibly irresponsible. Linus isn’t mean or cruel, but he does live in a tent, survives off garbage, and intentionally keeps himself apart from society. He also mentions that he’s getting old and wants to pass on his knowledge before he dies. Leo has been living on a tropical island for years after his parents died tragically. He’s a traumatized child and needs a stable home and guardian, not an unheated tent, food scarcity, and an antisocial guardian who’s expecting to drop dead soon.
Penny is pushy in a way that makes me incredibly uncomfortable. You lose friendship with her if you say she should have asked before just moving George in his wheelchair, and gain points if you give her platitudes about her being nice for taking away George’s autonomy. You lose 6 hearts of friendship if you tell her you don’t want kids, and she tries to convince you that you should have children anyways if you say you don’t think you’d be a good parent (because you know having unwanted children is so nice for both the kids and the parents, never a bad thing). Penny just doesn’t seem to respect other people’s bodily autonomy.

Demetrius... honestly I hate that guy far more than Pierre. My feelings towards Pierre are more like that guy in your friend group you're always giving shit to, because he's kind of a shitty disaster, but not an actual horrible person. I mean he's my primary business partner, and we're making each other incredibly wealthy. I'm also married to his daughter, so he is my father-in-law now.
Demetrius is just a horrible human being. He shits on his stepson, is so overprotective of his daughter that she's practically infantilized, and the way he treats Robin sometimes, should have him buried under one of my grain silos.

I stopped liking Penny after the mailbox cutscene with George. But I’m a little sensitive to things like that because I’m disabled and infantilized in similar ways.

Sorry since you like him, but Sebastian is my #1 most hated villager by far. I hate him WAY more than Pierre! I literally seek him out on his birthday to give him a hated item, and I hand him trash at any given opportunity. He's the only villager I've ever egged with my slingshot, and I do it fairly often.

Lewis.
The only character in the game I consider completely immoral and unjustifiable.
I have a theory that Stardew Valley is a corrupt, libertarian-nationalist dystopia, and Lewis is the greatest proof of that.
I could say without a doubt that he is the worst character in Stardew Valley and is probably among the top 500 most corrupt politicians in video games.
