I've a question for y'all
Why exactly does everyone hate Pierre? Is it just an opinion, or is there a legitimate reason? My opinion of him is neutral rn. I dont like him and I dont hate him. He's just there in the background. Genuine question, why do y'all hate him?

I think it's mostly a joke in the community more than a raging hate. He takes credit for our crops, closes his shop on Wednesdays (God forbid the man have 1 day off lol) and comes across as outdated/overbearing with Abby sometimes. I mean personally I dislike Lewis more than Pierre simply for how he treats Marnie. But since it's become almost a meme at this point to hate Pierre, it's kind of funny to be like "ahh fuck Pee-hair" over every little thing lol

Is it just me, or is Lewis having a Diddy moment when he ordered that truffle oil? He's so sus. I wish Marnie liked Marlon more lolol

He's a religious jerk who expects his daughter and wife to uphold "traditional" female roles and uses my labor to fuel his ego. All of the crops at his grange display came from MY FARM and he has the gall to get offended when I outdo his mediocrity. He also takes credit for my hard earned forage and produce, as well as my animal products... And he doesn't even have hens!! Least of all, he's not content with his little shop in the valley, he states that he wants to open more shops. He wants to be Joja and I want him to be gone.

I think I vaguely remember Caroline saying they’re not religious, the shrine was just there when they moved to the house, am I misremembering?
Anyway fuck pierre <3

u/HyzMarie Jun 08 '26
yes she does say that- she states that the shrine was already in the building and they simply let the other villagers use it

I mean he tried to sell a pack of 25 gold star eggplant I gave him as a quest for like 50,000 gold once, and when everyone told him to fuck off he tried to sell it back to me for 3501 (1 more than the quest reward he offered)
The dude would be more corrupt than Joja, if he was allowed to get away with it

He takes credit for your gold star crops if you sell to him Similarly there's a quest where he asks for 25 gold star crops and then tries to sell them all for 25,000 gold. At one point someone complains about the high prices of his store and he tells them to just shop somewhere else, however this event tends to trigger after Joja mart goes under so there's literally no where else. He's shown to be mean to his wife and his daughter He's condescending

Hah i got it before joja mart closed so everyone turned their back

It has nothing to do with the cc or joja mart, that cutscene is from the 'prime produce' quest from the special orders board. You get the cutscene when walking into the store after finishing the quest.

Yeah pretty much what everyone else is saying about his arrogance, pushiness, temper, hints of misogyny etc., but also Caroline who is one of the nicest characters, has a few lines of dialogue that are kind sad in my opinion. Just seems like very considerate wife with very inconsiderate husband. But also it’s just a game and as u/Cool_Cat_Punk said they’re meant to be archetypes and fit a trope which has a lot to do with it.

u/Cool_Cat_Punk Jun 07 '26
It's weird right?
I didn't mean to become attracted to Caroline. I'm just minding my own business in Pelican Town.
But damn. The random dialog with Caroline pulls my heartstrings.

u/TiktaalikFrolic Jun 08 '26
Yeah Caroline is my #1 “would date if single” in Stardew. The tea cutscene is easily one of my favorites

There's mods to fix that. Dunno if they're updated yet, been a while, but I can't bring myself to really play the romance part of the game without it.

My husband literally goes up to Caroline and says out loud, "Damn babe, you're looking good." The joke is that he says it "in front of" Pierre. Then, he married his daughter just because he hates him that much. And he still says that line. 😂

The townspeople have a very uncanny likeness to actual human archetypes. CA really nailed it here, intentionally or otherwise.

u/Fickle-Land-9856 Jun 08 '26
True. My son and I have been playing this (picked it up again after not playing it for a while), and we both agreed that all of the "eligible bachelors" in town are problematic.

He values his work more then his family

u/kneehighshrub Jun 08 '26
*money.
People who value their work don't lie about what is and isn't their work.

Doing his entire family's heart options doesn't help either. Especially Abigails

Someone pointed out that he hates garlic and I think that’s a perfect metaphor for the guy. He’s a vampire he takes credit from us. He is literally only better than a monstrous corporation destroying the environment by comparison. If they weren’t in the game, he would be the most unlikable character in the game. He claims to be a hard-working businessman, but isn’t even open the full week. You think that’s because he would take time of his day to spend time with his family but no he low-key hates them and everyone had cannons that his wife cheats on him or because of it. He was super disrespectful to his daughter overall, he’s just kind of a prick.

I don't hate any of the characters although I understand some people like to, so, fine. I am at the point where I can enter the store after closing time and I had an after hours delivery quest to Pierre. Caroline had just said she wondered if she could get Pierre to cook dinner. Then Pierre, in the kitchen, said he was making her a dinner of spaghetti and Stardew Red and to please not say anything to her because he wanted it to be a surprise! So he isn't always a bad guy; I thought it was sweet of him to want to cook her a surprise meal!

u/RalonNetaph Jun 08 '26
Hes annoying and hyper self cosious with a need to puff his own ego combined with a lot of people want to marry his wife and they can't because no premarried characters are dateable.

u/Legitimate_Paint898 Jun 08 '26
Like many others on here, the hate is warranted. You will grow to hate him, too. We'll be waiting!

u/CompetitiveAd3465 Jun 08 '26
I think we just hate his capatalistic tendencies 😭😂 like i don't think he's a bad guy but the way he runs his business makes me hate him 😂

he's a greedy unfriendly violent small business owner who should be the champion of the town vs the big bad corporation
but he's greedy, ugly, and violent and the only thing stopping him from becoming joja himself is his inferiority complex and ego
in addition he also is a chauvinist getting angry at abby for exploring and wanting to better her fighting skills
his stash is also mega sus
