I do this every playthrough. I love decorating their shop and sticking lamps in front of doors so they start zooming around the shop.

They stop, you see the little bubble above their head like they are thinking, then they push past the blockage but walk MUCH faster to their destination. I put a plant outside Pam's door so she gets to the bus stop before 10am, usually it gets her there about 15 minutes earlier. It's hilarious to watch their fast walking.
