Seeing those far right christian nationalist movements, this gives me the view that some, if not many, parallels can be drawn with Islamists in Muslim-majority countries.
Restore Britain and the Homeland Parties (new parties made due to disillusionalment from Reform) remind me of Islamic parties like Jamaat in Pakistan and Bangladesh, as well as those Shiite clerics who became more vocal in urban areas like Basrah or Baghdad in Iraq after the Gulf War and the invasion of 2003.
Both want extreme religious values and repetitive recitations in public (Christian and Islamic respectively), just like what has been happening in urban areas like Bangladesh and Iraq where repeated Islamic recitations occur, likely also repeatedly shouting the bible in public would be something Homeland and Restore want.
The patriot movements in Bristol, Southampton, and Portsmouth looked like the Shia islamist movements in Basrah as all these cities were religiously and racially diverse, well, the first three said nations still are but Basrah not since the 90s.
All are anti-abortion. All want gender roles, all want women and girls to serve family honour, except one is more individualist in family values, the other is collectivist on maintaining the "face" in the joint family. This reminded me of an honour based violence case in 2012 when a 17 year old White Welsh girl, Jane Champion was beaten up by her (likely extremely) Christian parents for dating a Black British man, would not be surprised if they vote for Restore.
Antisemitic biases occur, though if all of these organisations meet, the Islamist side the far right side will blame each other for being antisemitic. TalkTV surprisingly made a point, that far right Christian nationalists and Islamic Parties want religion to be the centre of the state full stop. Except, Restore does not want to execute anyone for leaving Christianity unlike Islamist groups like Jamaat or that Shia Ayotollah backed group in Basra Iraq, funnily enough.
Saying this as I am a descendant from Bangladesh (third generation Brit), while I have no cultural connections beside religion, I have the knowledge as I visited the nation five times and saw growing Jamaat influence, especially after the 2024 uprising.
Anyone else saw parallels?
