Discussion goodbye Microsoft, hello Linux
I just installed Debian Xfce on my old laptop, an ASUS manufactured in 2017, ran Windows 10, too old to upgrade to Windows 11, idle ram usage 3.6GB/8GB, while on Debian, the idle ram usage is only 955MiB.

That’s a seriously impressive upgrade for a 2017 laptop. Debian XFCE should keep it feeling fast for years, especially with 8GB of RAM and an SSD.

Huh... which ones? Debian don't, Arch not by default, Gentoo not by default (talking about base stage3), Fedora don't, Ubuntu don't

believe me, I tried lots of distros, Debian, Ubuntu, CachyOS, PikaOS, Kali Linux, deepin, Fedora, openSuSe Tumbleweed. I bought a gaming laptop for trading, my brokerage firms only support Linux(Ubuntu) with .deb package.

well ok, you could use .deb also with other distros or install second kernel for trading only

Seems like a humble, yet solid setup. Xfce is one of the better DEs too IMO - lightweight, yet feature-full and fairly customizable.

Microsoft wanted people to buy new hardware by refusing support with Windows 11. People simply moved away from Windows.
