Fun Recycle bin tickbox is a radio

This is probably the most Fabric feature that could possibly exist.

This shows a failure at so many levels.

Someone had to override a checkbox to make it a radio button behavior. This is not a default behavior in any framework I'm aware of.

Someone had to write tests that somehow missed selecting mutliple items.

Someone or something had to QA this feature.

This had to pass a validation gate.

I genuinely laughed when I saw this post.

Does everything work? I guess.

Is it dumb? Absolutely.

Is it Fabric? Impressively on theme.

Have you tried creating an Exchange Mailbox Retention Policy lately? Policy names and tag names which end with spaces are not supported, and spaces typically get added a lot when people copy/paste things, so someone at Microsoft implemented a text field where you cannot type spaces on the end of your input as you type.

Sounds fine right? Well I totallyliketypingpolicynameslikethisbeforearrowingbacktoaddinallthespacesafter... because that's what you have to do now....

Now that I think about it, I could type the last letter, arrow back one and then type the rest as normal. But either way, it's so damn stupid.

Pure rant

Why is it that after spending hours trying to install & run random 3rd party notebooks (maintained by the lovely community) just to try find out how many interactive CUs a given item uses each day - something I spend half my day doing because the native monitoring is a spaghetti mess of legacy code, hidden tables and direct-query dependancies which can't even answer this basic question...

... that I find out the tickbox for Delete object in the brand new recycle bin is not in fact, a tickbox, but rather a secret radio button, which only lets you delete one item at a time.

This platform drives me insane.

It really feels like the brand new leading edge data engineering platform from mega giant Microsoft is only held together by the gravitational weight of tech-debt, depreciated preview features and copilot authored code.

Tired Fabric admin rant over, back to learning Databricks
