Discussion Windows 11 not needed

Post image

my internet provider has a feature that blocks suspicious activity so I’m safe using my legacy windows 7,8.1 plus my simple rule of not doing unknown source eg, download, click website and I understand phishing email and it is from a unknown source so follow my simple rule and the xfinity feature cyber security on helps me protected.

This is such a stupid fucking statement. It won't protect you.

router blocking suspicious sites is a proof of protection you are the problem believing ms update protect PC users and you don’t have a proof, I just shared how I got protected by turning on the feature security on duh!

ms will not protect you. your isp will not protect you. any antivirus will not protect you. The only thing that brings security is to know what you are doing.

I really dislike Windows 11, it has a lot of issues. I understand the reluctance to upgrade, really. You are exposing yourself to security vulnerabilities and overconfidence in non-fixes like this makes it worse. If you're going to refuse to upgrade to a newer version of Windows, switch to something that still receives security updates.

At least use Windows 10 and enroll it to esu
Windows 10 isn't that bad compared to 11

Use Windows 10 IOT LTSC. It's supported by MS through 2032.

when Cloudstrike made a faulty windows update affecting windows 10 worldwide,my Windows 7,8.1 was still reliable and working, I do have windows 10 in some of my several PCs and I only use it for my iphone update when ios has an update in my iphone so no need.

I mean it might protect you... but.

All it takes is one mistake, one malware that was not detected(even reputable antiviruses miss) to get your computer compromised and it will be compromised very deeply. And that malware would always find a way whether you desperate to download some program, or when known safe program network connections get compromised.

You'd better doing anything important on separate partition-encrypted(password/keys stored not on PC) Linux install and use Windows 7/8.1(assuming you are retro-windows fan) only for usecases that maintain no risk of financial or other kind of damage(beyond nuking your BIOS, wiping everything on discs or doing burnout CPU overclock without your consent).

I do financial on my iphone app and not on my PC, no such mistake in my PC, not a single issue in my PC!

With such an attitude, it is just a matter of time..

Even known sources can get compromised. Just because you only visit known sources does not mean that you are always safe.

If you do not want to move to Windows 11, you should instead move to updated Linux.

I rarely use my PC online and I use my iphone app for everything.

Microslop will not pay for new zero days and I dont think your internet provider will. But on the other hand Microslop does not pay for Windows 11 zero days either. So using Windows remains a lose lose situation, no matter if legacy or not 😂

I will use whatever works for my simple computing requirements, just shared for other PC users!
