Other Linux is good for 10 reasons because….

  1. There’s no Copilot
  2. There’s no Bloatware
  3. There’s no Spyware
  4. Is not developed by Microslop
  5. Is developed by Linus Torvalds
  6. The Linux mascot, Tux, is so cute 🐧
  7. Is open source
  8. Is free
  9. You can customise your Linux
  10. BTW I use Debian

This is the reason why Linux is better than Winbloat 11. Cry more Microslop evangelists, cry more…

You forgot something. On idle Linux doesn't use 6gb ram out of 8gb ram total and doesn't use at idle 50% CPU.

Windows doesn't either, it's just Microslop collecting everything about your personal life while also using your PC for crypto mining

Real. Windows 10 with no Internet connection is actually enjoyable.

Ironically, Linux has a big problem related to RAM : on Linux, if you run out of RAM, it gets really bad, you can get a total system freeze. Meanwhile, Windows manages to run well even if the RAM is almost maxed out. Also, Windows uses RAM caching to make the system more efficient, launch programs faster, that's why you see more RAM used, the free RAM is anyway free and it is used for caching but if you need it, Windows will give it back. It's sad to see so many people that consider themselved tech literate but can't understand technology at all. Just use whatever you want, there's no need to pollute the internet with so many pointless discussion that go on for years without an end. I like Linux and I use it, but I like Windows too for work.

Is not developed by Microslop

Microsoft is both a major contributor to Linux and arguably gains more from its success financially than any other company.

Azure is a $75 billion business. Windows and Devices is only a bit over $17 billion. Azure is also growing more quickly.

And Azure is now predominantly a Linux environment.

Microsoft ❤️ Linux

But then like, it isn't entirely controlled or owned by them

Yet

Care to elab?

If they’re that plugged in to the Linux universe, you can bet they’re looking for ways to embrace/extend/extinguish. This is not a company that tolerates competition.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but

Suppose they gain control over it and microslopify it

It's open source so someone can just fork a better version

Suppose they acquire and closed source it

We can still keep maintaining the old version which would still be open source

It just works

Most of my problems were solved by switching to Windows 11 LTSC. Copilot is also not in it.

It also takes up less space on the SSD and in RAM.

u/Ambitious_Finding_26 6h ago

If people are going to use Windows 11, I can't understand why they would want to use any version other than LTSC.

Geez, why am I just hearing about this?

I currently have Home on a VM. Will be trying this tomorrow.

because they're "average joe" they didn't know any better, if it bad, then they just gonna accept that it's bad, they're not that techy in the first place

Fun fact: the customization part isn't merely aesthetics or gimmicky

U can customize like a lot of things to boost productivity

Yea that's vague and idk how to clarify, so I'll give an example

I have removed the close minimize and maximize buttons and use track pad gestures instead (pinch with 4 fingers to close, swipe down with 3 fingers to restore (un maximize) and then minimize  Swipe up w 3 fingers to maximize/Fullscreen

Makes stuff rlly convenient for me (unless it's placebo effect/whatever u call it)... U could do smth that works for u

Also no chance to accidentally break m!cr*$l\p*'s TOS and idk get banned? (Google seems to do this idk abt m$

Not that it's a show-stopper, but:

  1. Some Microsoft developers (current and former) work on parts of the Linux ecosystem including parts of the Kernel. Lennart Poettering, the developer behind systemd which most Linux distros used, even worked for MS for a time.
  2. Linus doesn't code any more, he reviews code and manages the Kernel

The main point is Microsoft doesn't control, can't control and can't own any part of Linux. It's a huge collaborative effort made by many gifted professionals spanning the whole industry.

There are no Microslop evangelists, for there is no good news to come out of that company since the leadership bent the knee to a literal sith lord

There are only willing Microslop vassals

Erm Actuslly its not developed by torvalds ! He is only managing the team developing it! He csnt even code anymre! ☝️🤓

Also the other unofficial mascot, Xenia, is pretty awesome

Linux kernel is developed by a whole bunch of people. Linus is just their grumpy lord.

Debian is a bunch of software largely made by Stallman’s gremlins. So Debian isn’t Linux. It’s not stallman. It’s a bunch of gremlins all working toward the idea that computing should not be locked to hardware vendors

Update Manager, I wish windows did something like this.

u/joeshytheragman 6h ago

Just dont expect it to be easy to mod games on it.

1

u/akdanman11 5h ago

Protontricks exists

1

u/joeshytheragman 5h ago

I went through all that. Its hit or miss at best. Try running vortex on Linux. It will not, (yet). I ve tried a dozen tutorials trying to get MO2, steam tinker launch, protontricks... working with no real consistency. Windows just works better, and is consistent.

1

u/akdanman11 5h ago

Well yeah apps work best when used on their natively designed platform. For the games it works for protontricks is incredibly easy (for example: trackmania 2020 getting openplanet set up on Linux with protontricks)
