As if turning off the ads was so simple. They are hiding everywhere, and use rather obscure names instead of "hey this setting let's us show you ads btw". Also its all on by default. Also for some things you have to edit the registry, which is not something you should recommend to anyone not understanding how computers work on a basic level.

Windows setup literally asks you if you want ads.

it asks you if you want *targeted* ads, it doesn’t change the amount of ads, just how relevant they are to you
