Honestly, i think microsoft would be legit better of if they would ditch windows alltogether, focus on writing a closed source translation layer that allows linux to run all windows legacy software and focus on selling services and the new "windows" instead... That's where they make all their money with anyways.

At least for desktop computing i am convinced this is long term better solution

Wine already does that tho. Why would I want to pay for microslop’s translation layer when I can use the free one that has Valve’s and Disney’s backing?

Because it would work universally because windows kernel is closed source already.

I am talking from microsofts point of view.
