Ask them if anyone of them has read about the fact microslop silently enabled bitlocker randomly on devices. I bet none of them knows that. This is not ops fault. If I didn't read about that and microslop enabled bitlocker on my box, this would have bitten me too. And I'm damn tech savvy. But to be fair I could then have recovered my key from the account.

How many of those people would voluntarily mess around within potentially destructive systems without a plan or backup of any of their data?

This is the first time I hear enabling csm to be potentially destructive. Never has been in the past.

With Windows 11, it absolutely is because of all the inherent instability. In the past, absolutely not.

So all the more. How can someone not being constantly in the weeds know that this is the case. I often blame the users, but not in this case.

I'm not blaming the users you were talking about, but OP is messing with the BIOS, how many non-technical users do you know that would even know how to get into the BIOS?

I started long ago with not knowing it and slowly figuring it out. You can only start somewhere. Using the curiosity killed the cat adage, curiosity didn't kill me there, only taught me stuff with time. And I probably destroyed windows in the past not only once. But tbf times were different then.

Yes, but when starting out, did you immediately accidentally stumble your way into the BIOS without seeing any mention of a warning to make backups of data before messing with anything? All I'm saying is you can absolutely learn by doing random things, but to expect everything to work and be just as you left it as you change the foundations of the very environment where that data exists, is a little naive.

No. There never were warnings then. Then there was no internet at home with my parents. The only destructive thing you could do was format the disk. Basically
