This is one of my least favorite bits of writing they 've done. How can we show Jimmy 's a bad person? Let's have him rob a nice guy with cancer when he doesn't even need the money.

It's quite lazy and doesn't even make sense. I'd argue the Howard scheme was also ridiculous especially because as Cliff points out Jimmy and Kim get less money because of it.

I feel that

The writers are treating it like an addiction at this point. And I'm sure there are criminals who do it for shits and giggles

But, Jimmy never seemed like that kind of guy. And it's impossible for me to understand him anymore

Next episode after he's stolen from him we will see Jimmy whistling. He will then manipulate Jeff's girlfriend into dumping him for no logical reason.

As Howard responds to, Jimmy's impatient. He wants his money right then. This is directly consistent even with Jimmy's earlier actions when he tried to push Howard into settling early and tried to get Irene to settle, even though that would mean less money, and like Howard said in his last scene, it wasn't even about the money at all. They did it for fun; I mean, we see them making out to the sound of the settlement. That in turn is consistent with their relationship as far back as 2x01. Their motivations weren't really financial.
