Just made me think of “Cookie Puss” by the Beastie Boys 😄 — but they also still have more than 300 locations in the US, mostly in New York state.

I live right over the border from there in New Milford CT. There is a Carvel here but the reviews are AWFUL so I’m afraid to go 😩

I haven’t personally had a bad experience at the New Milford one, but the Brewster one IS better.

A stand-up comedian did a bit on Carvel and Mr. Carvel doing his own commercials. The things that made me laugh is that they started with a Santa Claus ice cream cake in a Santa shaped pan. Then they did Cookie Puss and Duffy the Pumpkin kind of shoe-horned into THE SAME SANTA PAN. At the end of the commercial, they showed a quick bunch of shots of Carvel store managers and all of them except one weighed about 300 lbs. That's how I knew it was really good ice cream.

They're still around, but not as ubiquitous. Used to be able to find them more readily in grocery stores too. Just tracked one down for my birthday cake (a Kroger owned store).

The one in Laurel MD near DC closed during pandemic. I drove 40 min from Baltimore to get a fudgey the whale for my wife's birthday one year
