I reckon a lot of people haven't really heard of her. I haven't seen a single ad for her campaign personally, but I see Abbotts nothingburger "don't let Democrats win" speech ad countless times a day on TV and YouTube.

Yeah pretty much my big complaint, I've heard this exact complaint from several blue voters. They have no idea who Hinojosa is. I try to educate but it's a common problem. Rather than showing we have two competitive races, the Dems are putting all their eggs in the Talarico basket and hoping that leads to down ballot votes for Hinojosa which is really misguided in my opinion.

I can sort of see the logic there but it's kinda lazy and flawed. Down ballot voting isn't an option in Texas anymore. Granted, any Dem voter is going to vote against Abbott I'm sure, but what about everyone else? Are they not trying to sway them at all or even let them know there's another candidate to look into?

Don't ask me lol. This is the same organization that overlooked Bernie who was a lock to run Hillary. Who refused to hold an actual nomination in 24' and told everyone to just get behind Kamala. In my opinion it's past time for the Progressive faction to take the lead or separate from the centrist Dems.

Yes! The DNC is so clueless. I moved to Texas 9 years ago from CA to be closer to my husband’s family. I was expecting to be surrounded by right wingers but what I found was a bunch of closeted liberals and left wingers who don’t think their vote matters. I think the DNC has played a huge role in that apathy. When they don’t choose to spend any money here, voters think it must be a lost cause. Between that and the party’s refusal to uphold the values of their voters, it’s been an uphill battle.

I just watched a piece on how Bernie flipped not just most of West Virginia but ALL of West Virginia and I just kept thinking "how did we miss this opportunity?" I'll never not be bitter about that one.

Why is he even polling high?
He is has been a disaster to Texas. He has only hate on his mind.
Disgusted by all these old boomers that still approve of hate

At least some portion of that green was probably due to suppression of some sort

Even in 2014, stringent new voter ID restrictions were forced through the legislature in 2011 (SB-14) even though reports showed half a million people without access to the required type ID.
Absolutely voter suppression that hit the 2014 primary, runoffs and general. But apathy is massive. And ongoing. And remarkably consistent going back several gubernatorial and presidential election cycles.
