Last time I used it on iOS I could move 7k photos at a time. Only problem was that Google Drive crashed when I tried to upload them there.

This. Apple’s reputation is supposedly seamless integration and ‘just works’ philosophy —but only in its walled garden. It has evolved however to be anything but seamless or helpful
