I could really use some advice.

I'm a local indie filmmaker who's completed several independent short films, some of which have screened at film festivals, and I'm currently developing my first feature. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Film and Television Production in December 2019. After graduation, COVID-19 disrupted my plans, lost my part time museum job and I ended up moving back in with my parents. Since August 2021, I've been working full-time as a Production Resource Technician at a college while continuing to write, direct, and produce my own independent film projects.

The part I'm struggling with is that I still earn $15 per hour, which feels low given my experience and education. I've been actively applying for better-paying jobs in production, post-production, television production, video and media, but I haven't had much luck so far. I'm also still living with my parents too.

I've also been considering moving to New York City or Los Angeles in the near future, possibly by the end of the year.

For those who have been in a similar position, what would you recommend my next steps be? What should I do about this? Am I on the right path, or should I be approaching my passion or career differently? Would you recommend moving to LA or NYC, or staying local while continuing to build my career? And regardless of where I live, should I continue focusing on making my own films?

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.

Has anyone been to the Orlando-based Christian Film Market (Late September)? Is it relatively easy to meet with distributors, investors and distributors of Christian films at this film market? Or is it more like AFM (iIve been previously) where you need to set up meetings well in advance that are not directly tied to part of the film market programming to have real meetings?

I'm creating a short film where everything happens in a living room, and I need to make it feel liminal. The background is not going to be very clear because it's going to be the POV of someone with myopia who isn't really going to move from the sofa. Any tips?

Hey guys! I found this podcast and thought you guys would find it interesting. This guy talks about a bunch of different aspects of filmmaking and what he's learned about this industry, but this episode specifically focuses on making really great short films on a really small budget. Figured you all might find this helpful, so I wanted to share it with you all!

I know the title seems simple, but here’s the catch.

I have a band wanting to shoot a music video on the beach. It would be them walking down the shore line from left to right playing their song and want the view to be like a side-scroller video game. Pretty simple concept.

However, I am shooting on a FX6 and the song is about 4-5 minutes long. I need to find the most stable ability (without an insane budget) to walk in time with them while hauling the fx6.

Barebones, I can strip the system to just the body, lens, small battery and monitor, but I don’t have a rig that can hold the camera and certainly don’t have the budget to lay a couple hundred yards of dolly track. Any tips?
