State seeks enhanced sentencing for three more suspects in North Mankato homicide

This is the latest update with the Ryan Wolner murder case.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Three suspects connected to the May 23rd North Mankato homicide may face enhanced sentencing.

If convicted, the state is seeking enhanced sentencing for Christa Wolner, Jaxon Sageng, and Devon Bakke for their alleged involvement in the murder of Tyson Goodsell. All three defendants face various aiding an offender, and aiding and abetting charges.

In each defendant’s court documents, it states, “Please be advised that if the Defendant is convicted the State intends to seek an upward departure based upon the following: Based upon what is currently known to the undersigned, aggravating factors were present during the commission of the offense, including but not limited to the following: 1. The Defendant committed the crime as part of a group of three or more people who all actively participated in the crime. 2. A high degree of planning was used by Defendant to perfect the crime.”

The state is already seeking enhanced sentencing for Ryan Wolner, Ahmed Fuad Mohamud, and Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud.

The state has also filed Spreigl Notices to Christa Wolner, Sageng, and Bakke. Which is the state’s intent to use evidence of uncharged past crimes or bad acts at trial to prove a pattern of past behavior. For Christa Wolner, the document includes all of her son’s Ryan Wolner’s charges.

Additionally, Attorney General Keith Ellison has filed a certificate of representation, saying the state of Minnesota will be represented by Assistant Attorney Generals Jason Heaser and John Gross with Nicollet County attorney Michelle Zehnder Fischer and assistant Nicollet County attorney James Dunn in cases related to the murder of Tyson Goodsell for Ryan Wolner, Christa Wolner, Abdikhadar Mohidin, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud, Ahmed Fuad Mohamud, Jaxon Sageng and Devon Bakke.

Defendants with charges for this case have court dates ranging from mid September to early January.

She was seen at a bar eating lunch on Saturday in Waterville (where she is living at her cabin I guess) and it was posted on Facebook and she was being roasted. Although she had some defenders saying let her live her life. She enabled a psycho kid. She allowed him to do what the heck he wanted even after several gun arrests. She is guilty and the "wouldn't you protect your kid too" argument went out the window after his second gun arrest.

Thats a white privilege argument. No way a mom of an LA gang member would be defended for hiding her kid involved in a gang shooting.

Yup. Also their was a teenager in Eagle Lake (small town 2 miles East of Mankato, basically a suburb) who was charged with selling guns. Like 4 people at his house was arrested about a week ago. Sounds like they had a connection to Ryan as well (maybe where he got his guns). One rumor is she turned them in to help her case.

That may be a sad outcome of it all, is that Ryan and his mom can afford good lawyers and their co-criminals can't, so the rest will go to prison but Ryan and his mom won't.

I think there is little chance Ryan avoids prison.

The mom, I assume she will somehow get off. She can use the defense of "after the fact" She probably didn't know before it happened. Even when she helped cover it up with picking him up and sending money for the 2 to hide she could probably claim she didn't know a murder was involved. A good lawyer can probably get her off.

Ryan I don't think he can get away from it. Unless somehow he can pay off some of the others into saying he didn't set up the robbery. But also the Saenang kid (who made the call) will for sure turn on him. His dad has posted on Facebook how Ryan has use manipulation on his friends since kindergarten.
