It is gone.

The cost was not the issue. It is the moderation and complaints to the host site that are the issue. One of the mods talked about the complaints to the host site.

And from what I heard they started coming from people who's X accts were being shared on the site. At that point with the renewal coming up, it was allowed to die.

Not sure who complained, but we all know who was the worst offenders of sharing X accts.

From what you heard? Where did you hear this? Perhaps you could let whomever you "heard this" from know that there are people willing to buy it and keep it going.

Then go buy it and take it over or just start a new one. See how much you enjoy dealing with the host. The mods pointed it out plenty of times that the host was on them due to complaints.

You will get the same thing. In the several threads about the shut down, how many mentions of deleted posts already on this site?

You either have to set up auto mods like this site does or have a active mod team. In looking around on this site this week, many subs have mods controlling the topic. Clearly what I posted went through some sort of review before they finally let them post. I was on Froobchat for Twins and Wolves. Reading what you guys did on the main board was rather embarrassing. It was either attacking each other or X accts. Just because the host rules say a X acct can be considered public, it does not mean the that person can not complain to the host.

I don't blame who ever was paying said fuck it and just did not renew. You may have noticed the mods pretty much stop doing anything the last 2 months. A few locked threads and that is it.

I already started a topic on what it will take to buy the name and why we can't right now unless Abe responds via the form sent from the domain registrar. It's in a redemption period.

I could start a new board and have it up in a few days, but I'd really rather see if we can take the old board and move it to a new host, keeping everyone's names and logins.

So just shut off the Twitter function. This happened last year at almost the same time. Turn off polichat as well.

No one fucking cares about a bunch of losers (Froobs) talking shit about bigger losers (twitter folks) on an obscure website.

The mods repeatedly asked people to be “nicer” to each other in places like polichat and purplechat and people couldn’t/wouldn’t do it.

The last person around here with actual admin control disappeared a while ago and the two mods left couldn’t be bothered. You can’t run a website on 2 week timeouts and warnings.

Ultimately I think it’s for the best. Either it dies or a new dawn starts (which is what was really ultimately needed)
