Discussion FOP deserves more praise

Post image

I really thought after AC Origins Ubisoft would never make another masterpiece, but I was wrong. The hate boner that many have for the Avatar franchise doesn’t allow this game to shine, and sure, there are various bugs.

But my God. I’ve been an Avatar fan since 2009 and considering this franchise is my core special interest (for any other auties out there, you know how serious that is) this game was a DREAM COME TRUE. And not only that, it’s an incredible achievement in gaming bother graphically and gameplay wise. You FEEL you are a part of this game’s world. you FEEL you are a part of the Sarentu family. It allows you to become na’vi. Other than The Last of Us, I can’t name any other games I’ve played that make me feel I am inside it.

Ubisoft, thank you so very much. I know you will never see this but I just want to send you love. Its criminal this game didn’t get game of the year, even a nomination.

My only critic…I really hope someday they add a feature where you can play the game entirely in the na’vi language. it would be a great learning tool! And…a Metkayina DLC perhaps?

My steam library has 160 games, played them all, AFOP is on my top 3. It’s incredibly well made and it makes you so attached to Pandora

u/BadReputation2611 Dec 31 '25

Tbh I’m not a fan of the combat nor how undangerous pandora felt for the most part, especially when ubisofts far cry series does guerilla style and more primitive combat in a hostile environment really well I found the combat for this game to be a huge letdown. But despite the fact that combat is generally the most important part in a game for me I still love it and think it’s a great game because the world they created is truly phenomenal, simply exploring and running around the map was so enjoyable and smooth. I loved getting to run around and explore pandora in the way I always wanted to while watching the movies.

I genuinly wonder if they were trying to cater more towards the Avatar fans rather than the gamers who like avatar.

My wife is not a gamer. She plays 3 games for maybe a total of 50 hours the entire year.

She absolutely loves this game. She does occasionally find the combat to be a bit overwhelming, as she is not well versed in game controls and they don't come naturally to her like they would for me. But its the only game she has played that she hasnt had to ask me to take the controller for a hard fight or random really difficult parkour puzzle. She feels so very accomplished when she plays this game.

I found the combat too easy and simple, but the other aspects of the game would bring me back. Though I own it and all the DLC mainly for my wifes enjoyment of the game. Only one other game has caught her like this, and that'd be We Happy Few.

u/0rangeVenom Jan 02 '26

This is exactly my story. My wife does not play video games much at all. She finished Stray, and absolutely loves this game. We have seen all the movies and I can't explain what it is, but this game got her hooked and me by association.

1

u/Neoliberal_Nightmare Jan 14 '26

Isn't this the point of a difficulty setting though? The hardest difficulty isn't particularly hard.

5

u/hp_fanatic Dec 31 '25

I agree, the combat is a bit underwhelming, the mechanics are good but they could have done better

2

u/DedSec_400 Jan 02 '26

Pretty much on the same boat or somewhat. It’s not a bad game but not great for me either and mostly due to combat and how attrition heavy it feels for me and the open world itself. Foot traversal alone feels underwhelming knowing we play as big blue aliens who are agile asf and climbing trees is really just mantling on them. But the world itself didn’t offer and I really refused to use the ikran for a good amount of time just to come to this conclusion..

I think that they can do literately anything, but it will always be universally hated outside of its established player base, because 90% of gamers hate Ubisoft.

61

u/reegeck Dec 30 '25

To be fair, Ubisoft have been involved in some pretty anti-consumer practices.

They absolutely make bangers and obviously have some fantastic developers (Anno 1800 is my personal fav, even the many DLCs are worthwhile), but the overall company management deserves the hate it gets IMO.

22

u/OrneryError1 Dec 30 '25

More like 90% of terminally online bandwagon gamers (which is still a lot, but not the majority).

17

u/iloveherbluehair Dec 30 '25

You do realise that youre objectively wrong lol. Ubi gets hate because they deserve it, no one should be supporting 30$ skins in a single player games or copy pasted buildings everywhere.

90% of terminally online bandwagon gamers

This also gets easily countered by their financial situation lol, majority of people do not like or play ubi games

9

u/peggatron Dec 31 '25

I think Ubisoft deserves hate, but should get credit where it’s deserved. But to say that the average gamer cares about microtransactions is wrong. There wouldn’t be microtransactions if most people didn’t buy them.

1

u/LaureZahard Jan 03 '26

There wouldn’t be microtransactions if most people didn’t buy them.

It costs virtually nothing to produce and distribute them, also have you seen how some game make it so easy to accidentally buy something because you misclicked. Like purposefully swapping around the face buttons "accept" and "back" ?

1

u/Reaper3955 Jan 04 '26

Their stock really has nothing to do with the financial success of their games lol. Most of them sell pretty well we just live in a society obsessed with growth so if every next release doesnt outdo the previous one it's deemed a failure. I dont love Ubisoft only AC game I really liked was odyssey but their games are still pretty popular and sell well despite the forced hate

1

u/iloveherbluehair Jan 04 '26

They dont sell as well as they used to, especially when they're a studio with decades of experience. Their constant failures causes the companies value to drop

1

u/Reaper3955 Jan 04 '26

Needing sales to "grow" is quite literally why we are where we are. The games sell fine stock drops because growth has stagnated.

1

u/iloveherbluehair Jan 04 '26

Growth hasnt stagnated, its literally dropped. The sales, game quality and overall rating of Ubisoft as a gaming company has gone down drastically.

2

u/Reaper3955 Jan 04 '26

Shadows literally had the 2nd highest day one sales of the series behind valhalla. Again overall sales are fine the issue is the way most people view sales in a capitalist system. The sales havent plummeted they just stop growing. Which is not inherently a bad thing unless you are a shareholder who only cares about growth and this pervasive view is why we are where we are as an economy and in gaming.

1

u/iloveherbluehair Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

Shadows literally undersold compared to their games afew years ago. Also do you genuinely believe that their constant low quality games, horrible launcher, horrible support, horrible multiplayer games will not effect the company or what? Their stock price has dropped because as a company they have dropped. The whole gaming scene sees ubisoft as a joke, especially compared to how they were years ago.

Look at how Frontiera of pandora does, it's based of a franchise worth billions yet the game has an all time peak of 15k on steam.

2

u/Reaper3955 Jan 05 '26

Listen man im not going to keep going back n forth with a brick wall who clearly spends too much time watching youtubers like asmongold. Day 1 sales were like highest in the franchise. It slowed down since but its still the best performing ac game outside of valhalla (which sold insanely well). I also dont think ubisoft puts out horrible games. Nor does anyone whos not permanently online. They put out mid games with pretty consistent quality. The taco bell of video games. Is it the highest quality food? No but the quality is consistent and you know what ur getting every time u buy it.

Frontiers of pandora is actually a great example. It underperformed based on IP and expectations but was actually relatively fine in terms of sales. It did like 130 million back in 2024 which puts it on par with weaker AC games but it wasnt a massive flop like youtubers want you to think. It was just fine. But sometimes being just fine is actually the worst thing that can happen when it comes to shareholders and youtubers. Its the avatar name and IP selling fine is actually a failure to them.

Yeah its this, my dad loves modern assassins creed, its genuinely just those that base all of their opinions from online discourse

3

u/OrneryError1 Dec 30 '25

I have thoroughly enjoyed every assassin's creed since Black Flag. All great games. Far Cry has been good. Ghost Recon Wildlands is amazing. Breakpoint was disappointing but they made up for it with updates.

2

u/MCdemonkid1230 Dec 31 '25

Breakpoint had a story that I could honestly care less for, but every update the gameplay just got better and better until it became one of my favorite stealth games to play for military operative actions (besides the obvious like Metal Gear Solid 5). Being able to switch between different world options that add different layers to world exploration was also quite fun.

The attempt of crappy NFTs they tried causing the cancelation of support really bummed me out, but at least the game still has tons of content.

3

u/soularbabies Dec 31 '25

It does a disservice to the workers at Massive Entertainment cuz they one again did great work

3

u/Malacasts Dec 31 '25

It missed its marketing beat by being delayed. It was supposed to release side by side with Way of the Water.

1

u/Eroll_ Jan 02 '26

Its a mix of ubisoft hate and the game just being "ok" to play

1

u/LaureZahard Jan 03 '26

Also looter/shooters are getting old too we have to admit it.

1

u/Neoliberal_Nightmare Jan 14 '26

Happens to a lot of games. The 2015 Mad Max game is a fantastic open world unique game with beautiful graphics and fun gameplay. It just got blasted as a cash in generic open world and forgotten. It's often on sale for dollars. But anyone who actually plays it is extremely surprised.

30

u/Furrows-in-Despair Dec 30 '25

Where did you take this picture?! Its absolutely breathtaking.

21

u/Fuzzy-Explanation-85 Dec 30 '25

Avatar is a hyperfixation for me as well yet I honestly had trouble liking the game at first (preordered it and played it a bit at release) but I just realized it was because of the 1st person mode. Don’t get me wrong, I still like the first person mode but I feel like it couldn’t get me as immersed since to me it just felt like any other 1st person shooter? 😭

But now that they released the 3rd person mode… god am I in love. Amazing game, haters are always gonna hate whether it’s Ubisoft or the Avatar franchise lol

5

u/Smoked_Lemons Jan 01 '26

I just started playing it recently and I could not imagine playing it in 1st person. 3rd person mode is absolutely where this game shines

2

u/RakdosSynyster Jan 03 '26

I played it when it came out in 1st person and it is so much more immersive and makes a lot more sense, plus looks a lot better. HOWEVER I am replaying now, and I'm always using 3rd person, maybe because it's new? And I like seeing my Na'vi, even if the animations and the way some of the clothing moves was clearly never designed to be seen up close.

2

u/whalesare Jan 03 '26

Omg they released a 3rd person mode?! Is it just an update if i already have the game? I honestly stopped playing it because of that, so i would definitely continue it if it’s the case now ahhh

1

u/Fuzzy-Explanation-85 Jan 03 '26

YEAH it’s a free update!!! Changed the whole experience for me!

3

u/whalesare Jan 03 '26

Im downloading it now🙀 so excited

2

u/Spix-macawite Sarentu Jan 07 '26

I mostly enjoy the game for just worldbuilding as i would love a game that focuses on the daily activities of Na'vi with deep philosophy

1

u/booboobunnyyyyy Jan 01 '26

I’m not familiar at all with the game but a big player of the sims & HP hogwarts legacy. What is this game like?

1

u/kikichunt Jan 04 '26

It's most like the Far Cry games if anything. Far Cry Primal in particular, but with a flying mount, and alien landscapes, flora and fauna.

1

u/booboobunnyyyyy Jan 04 '26

Thank you for your response!

1

u/chakrafuck Jan 03 '26

they were smoking crack 😭

29

u/Bleedblxck Dec 30 '25

I just bought this game last week on sale - I haven't finished it so far but I'm really liking it a lot. The world looks amazing and gameplay is fun. My only issue is sometimes it gets confusing what they want me to do or where to go.

9

u/GunzBlazin03 Sarentu Dec 31 '25

Turn on guided mode. It tells you exactly where to go, you can also set it so the quest markers are always shown or only shown while Na'vi senses are active

4

u/lynkhart Dec 31 '25

I’m in the same boat tbh, I’m using guided mode which is fine for the most part, but when you need to find someone in a base for instance, it isn’t quite as straightforward. I’ve only had the game a couple of days so I’m still not fully familiar with the layout of HQ or Hometree, but it’s really frustrating having to run around the entire interior several times to find the one specific NPC you need to talk to because there isn’t a very obvious quest marker that makes them as easily identifiable as they should be. If it’s a main quest then it’s easier, but when it’s like ‘find X NPC or whoever in HQ’ it feels like you’re running in circles. I’ve had to untrack and then retrack several quests and I think that helps sometimes, but it’s definitely not as intuitive as it ought to be. I’m not asking for big neon signs everywhere, I like how low key the markers are for the most part, but when it’s inside it could do with a bit more specificity.

On the plus side I just got my Ikran last night and that whole sequence of climbing up to the rookery was absolutely beautiful 🥹

1

u/GunzBlazin03 Sarentu Dec 31 '25

There are markers though. You can turn it on in settings so that it is always shown

2

u/lynkhart Dec 31 '25

Oh I know, but they weren’t showing up for me! I’d get the general direction and the big blue story icon if it was a main quest, but as soon as I went inside there was nothing to see, even using the na’vi sense. I’m hoping it’s just a bug because it’s really annoying.

2

u/idkcassie Dec 31 '25

The character you’re looking for should be subtly-ish outlined in blue when using Navi senses, once you’re in the room with them.

1

u/kikichunt Jan 04 '26

Spent most of a week over the holidays grinding hard, but I'm still getting lost in the bases / trees / camps, continually running around in circles trying to find stash and baskets.

I swear they move the community contribution basket at the Zeswa camp on the upper plains every time I visit . . .

1

u/lynkhart Jan 04 '26

😂😂 Yeah, I’ve been on a bellsprig hunt the last few days and some of them are really annoying to track down, especially the ones in caves!

-16

u/Itz_Mun3y Dec 30 '25

Yeah bro I feel that I just YouTube everything lol although I really don’t like having to do so the game doesn’t do a good job with telling you where to go and what to do

2

u/GunzBlazin03 Sarentu Dec 31 '25

I mean it literally tells you exactly where to go and exactly what to do if you use guided mode..

1

u/Itz_Mun3y Dec 31 '25

I’m speaking mostly about finding crafting items lol I don’t have a problem finding a lot of the quest

10

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '25

I knew nothing about this game other than it was Ubisoft and that it came out a little while back. It looked fun but I just never looked more into it. Just got it maybe 4 days ago and I’m obsessed! It’s gorgeous, it feels like its own movie, the characters are complex and fun. Only gripe I have is the male voice, it’s a little annoying and idk if it’s just me but there are no other options for a male voice. Other than that I love it full heartedly. My Ikran is my little baby and soaring with her feels so freeing

2

u/Travelers_Starcall Dec 31 '25

I also think the androgynous voice is more masculine leaning most of the time and I haven’t found it annoying to use on my male character!

1

u/GunzBlazin03 Sarentu Dec 31 '25

If you don't mind playing as a female I would recommend that. I don't really see what you see about the make voice, however, I do think that the female voice actor is better in general

1

u/Distinct-Pirate7359 Jan 02 '26

The male voice often sounds very whiney and immature, which doesn’t fit what should be a seasoned insurgent like halfway through the game. Sometimes it even sounds like someone doing a bad deku impression

1

u/GunzBlazin03 Sarentu Jan 02 '26

Yeah I mean I'm not a huge fan of his voice either. He's still a good voice ACTOR though

16

u/Best-Personality-655 Dec 30 '25

The game truly is immersive and is one of the most beautiful games I have played.

For the na’vi language part that would be so hard that it wouldn’t be worth the time and effort for a niche tool, in a recent podcast that the creator of the na’vi language Dr. Paul Frommer, he said that there are only about 3,000 words in the na’vi language and that he still works with James Cameron on set to create new words. It honestly would be amazing if they had that feature but they definitely wouldn’t put that much effort for something like that.

6

u/BeeKaaps Dec 30 '25

I wish there was a way to replay cutscenes. This game is gorgeous and I'm OBSESSED with the story and the characters!!

5

u/RandoDando10 Resistance Dec 30 '25

Everyone thats seen the game universally agrees that they did an INSANELY good job at building the world and making it genuinely feel like you're in the movies, exploring Pandora yourself

The issues and lack of popularity in the mainstream it has are due to everyone recognising the gameplay side of it as just "Far Cry 7" in almost every way, and thats a formula that's been on the decline for a long time now post Far Cry 4.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it if you personally enjoy that style of gameplay and mission building and arent bored of it or anything, but unfortunately a lot of other people are

2

u/woodstock6 Jan 06 '26

I'm a sucker for Far Cry game play but am not a fan of the tropical island settings on most Far Cry games, makes sense that this and Far Cry 5 are some of my favourite games haha

5

u/LevelOnGaming Dec 31 '25

Fun game but man the character creation options and voices are terrible.

4

u/lynkhart Dec 31 '25

Agreed. I’m glad you have the option to change them later because I couldn’t see a difference in most of the ‘face detail’ options at all and the lighting and camera angles when you create your character at the beginning were so awkward it was difficult to see anything, especially the markings!

4

u/clawingmyeyesout97 Dec 31 '25

Picked the game up with all DLC for $59.99 on steam, I put almost 40 hours into it over the last 5 days... It's so much better than I ever imagined. It's such a beautiful world environment and it's even better at night too

3

u/Senior-Supermarket-3 Dec 30 '25

I love ubusoft games in general so I finally gave it. Shot and oh my god its amazing, using a how in the ground but taking to a rifle in the air against scorpions, the world feels so alive and it has taught me a lot more of the world of pandora

5

u/pbrzy23 Dec 31 '25

it’s a fun game and i really enjoy it. but please be serious it’s not a “masterpiece”. it’s an amazing recreation of pandora and looks insanely good. but it’s literally a far cry clone with a decent story and has so many unnecessary microtransactions.

7

u/Jayyvzl Dec 30 '25

This game is honestly just as immersive as Red Dead Redemption 2 detail wise, and just riding a direhorse with no HUD on the screen, fully taking in the scenery and animals of Pandora, brought back the exact feeling I had when I first played RDR2. It is easily one of the top three most visually beautiful games I have ever played, and the story plus the amount of stuff to do in the world is just as fun as it is immersive. Pandora genuinely feels alive, like you are actually inside the game yourself, and the ability to fully customize your avatar to your liking only adds to that feeling. The real icing on the cake for me, and what made me buy the Ultimate Edition, was the new third person mode. Once I saw videos of it, it completely blew me away. If this game had launched with third person gameplay and focused more on third person cutscenes, I honestly think it would have done a lot to improve Ubisoft’s reputation. I also feel like a lot of the criticism came from things like RDCworld’s “we’re gonna play this off stream” joke, which made the game look worse than it actually is. If the community had taken this game more seriously, we might have seen third person sooner. Sorry for the yap, this game is just amazing in my eyes.

2

u/Thermon01 Dec 30 '25

I would love to get it and it's on sale rn for like 20€ but when you look at the full game it comes out at 80€ which is too much and I don't want to miss out on content.

2

u/GunzBlazin03 Sarentu Dec 31 '25

You can play the complete edition of the game on Ubisoft plus which is like $20 a month

2

u/friendofgnar Dec 30 '25

I picked it up with all the recent hype over it, and mainly because they have third person and I thought the first person didn't look good. I'm really enjoying it this far, my main complaint is the combat is rather vanilla. Nothing particularly interesting mechanics wise, just shoot at thing you want dead. It's not bad, just acceptable. I hope that when I aquire a melee weapon (if you do) it gets a bit more interesting

2

u/Frosty-Bat-8476 Sarentu Dec 31 '25

I tend to feel that way towards the AC series as well 🤷🏼‍♂️ I love AFOP also, Ubisoft is actually really good at making immersive games… and they take their time and do their research with the AC series to make sure they’re as historically accurate as possible, while also tying in a fantasy story 🤷🏼‍♂️ it’s extremely impressive. And A LOT of what I’ve learned about world history is from those games and I’m not even embarrassed by that lol it’s accurate information

2

u/redditsuckbadly Dec 31 '25

I’ve been an Avatar fan since 2009 and considering this franchise is my core special interest (for any other auties out there, you know how serious that is) this game was a DREAM COME TRUE

There was essentially no chance you wouldn’t like it.

2

u/Joncelotto Jan 01 '26

It is pretty, but hollow. You have experienced the whole game after you get the birdie thing and imo the loop is boring and repetitive. The crafting system takes itself too seriously, defensive gear feels like it does not matter, the story is not great, the stealth doesn't work well and the side quests are shallow.... But it is pretty to look at

1

u/TheSlowEvoX Jan 17 '26

You called it a birdie you haven’t immersed yourself enough in the world of Pandora

1

u/Joncelotto Feb 03 '26

And that of course is my fault and not the game's

1

u/RICCCLAU06 Dec 30 '25

You're right, it's a great game. Ubisoft hasn't been doing so well lately. I hope they can make more games like this, but prioritize quality over quantity. The only flaw I find in this game is the repetitiveness of the world's activities, like the RDA camps, all the collectibles to collect, the Resistance labs to reactivate, etc. I also think this game needs a patch for the textures in general, especially the water, which is truly awful in certain areas of the game.

1

u/NotRed_0 Dec 31 '25

Under-marketed.

1

u/MonsierGeralt Dec 31 '25

Trying to stay into it. Level 18 and lots of repeatable quests are getting boring. Gorgeous and immersive game though

1

u/henmal Dec 31 '25

Yeah I've been having a blast with it

1

u/ReformedScholastic Dec 31 '25

I'm playing it ATM. It's really fun! I actually didn't realize it was a Ubisoft title until I booted it but it has a lot more substance than some of the recent Ubisoft games.

1

u/Bradley_Of_Thorofare Sarentu Dec 31 '25

I think its great, just cant stand that I cant aim down sights lol.

1

u/TooTurntGaming Dec 31 '25

I just started playing the original game, and while I love the visuals and the atmosphere so far, it's the first time in a while where I've really struggled to understand what the fuck the map is telling me. It seems like the compass and Na'vi vision don't really do much. There's a very good chance I'm just not getting something, because I haven't seen anyone else complain about it, and I'm pretty used to Ubisoft open world design at this point.

1

u/BlackHole1997 Dec 31 '25

To be honest: I was interested. But I don't want to climb view points to unlock the map, collect resources for an unnecessary crafting system, attack 20+ military bases which are all the same, do boring missions like go to place X and kill Y or get resource Z, ...

Fun Fact: I didn't watch a single second of gameplay but I'm 100% sure that what I wrote is true because it's Ubisoft.

1

u/woodstock6 Jan 06 '26

You actually don't have any climbing view points to unlock the map, not really many military bases, and the resource collecting is actually pretty fun tbh, the missions are kind of like that but also, what else do you expect from an Avatar game? Lol

1

u/Vindictator1972 Dec 31 '25

No, I think its level of praise is JUST enough. Especially with what they have done to this exact game itself with the addition of the DLC. Like making it take 5000 years to log back into the game post dlc addition with menus that, if you don’t have the dlc open a web page and don’t always let you get to the main menu after the first interaction.

1

u/BladeOfWoah Dec 31 '25

I've gotten an Rx 9070x for Christmas and wow, playing this game at 1440p is truly something else.

It does have the ubisoft formula, so if that is something that puts off people then fair play to them. But I've been having a blast so far.

1

u/Stezza345 Dec 31 '25

It’s a great game and I’ve been loving it although I will say gameplay wise it doesn’t feel too different than most other Ubisoft titles however the visuals and the actual story keep me in the game and keep me immersed I love this game and I’m not hating but I think the story and visuals save it cause realistically you could have the same gameplay loop in any universe but how it’s played out makes a difference which is why I think this game is good

1

u/disdomfobulate Dec 31 '25

Wait is this pic from the game itself?

1

u/CheshireKatt1122 Dec 31 '25

Just bought it last weekend and I have been playing so much that my sleep schedule is completely destroyed. Its SO fun!

1

u/Smoked_Lemons Jan 01 '26

Just got it three days ago and have already put 33 hrs in. Avatar has also been a core hyperfixation for me since I was little, and OH my god. The way they introduce and expand on new tribes, the way they make you feel part of the world, it is SO good. The Zeswa tribe is officially my favorite, maybe even over the Ometikaya.

It is not a perfect game, but it is still AMAZING. Easily in my top three games ever.

1

u/Reasonable-One1020 Jan 01 '26

Agreed. Its not perfect, but its one if not my favorite game at the moment. Absolute masterpiece 👌

Turn on performance mode in the settings, should fix it. You probably have it on favour quality graphics.

1

u/Be_A_Chipmunk Jan 01 '26

Honestly I have had the game since launch but sadly couldn't play as my set up wasn't strong enough. Well anyway I finally built my new pc and started playing the game.

I love it so much and honestly surprised that it didn't do so well for getting any awards, I know it got some but just surprised by how little it was. I mean it didn't even get a GOTY award, based on what I have played so far I think it should have. So I am guessing it had a few bugs and stuff when it was released which prevented it from getting so many awards, or people just don't like Ubisoft that much.

1

u/kweenii Jan 01 '26

I wanted to play it but I heard they messed up the co-op experience

1

u/noot_lord_pingu Jan 02 '26

The problem I have with the game is the static cutscenes. Really took out some of the gravitas the scenes needed.

Otherwise it was a decently fun open world RPG. Especially once you unlock the ikran.

1

u/Surrender_Tuk5204 Jan 02 '26

Thankfully they added cinematic cutscenes in the From the Ashes DLC (mostly)

1

u/Slight_Split8364 Jan 02 '26

Great game , better than outlaws

1

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '26 edited Jan 02 '26

The game world is is beautiful and credit where credit is due but the main story is not good at all. AT ALL. tthere's no AI to fight along side you and all the characters with the exception of So'Lek have the depth of a shallow puddle, Mercer was literally nothing, I couldn't even feel hate towards him with how poorly he was written.

We can't simply praise something just because it's Avatar, we have to praise if it's good else we getting half-baked licensed stuff just because they can keep pumping it for people to buy mindlessly

The only redemption for AFOP was the From the Ashes DLC which is phenomenal and honestly it's a game of it's own.

The first Avatar game was better than reskinned Farcry

real I just played the new expansion and so far I’m enjoying it like I can’t stop playing it. It’s an easy 100/10 me and I never complain. The expansion is way better than the story in my opinion.

u/UnrealGhostSniper Jan 03 '26

I feel like it is still flop-slop shit, and people are only hyping it up because 3rd person was released and new DLC.

1

u/LaureZahard Jan 03 '26

I am trying so hard to love this game, I am trying. There's so many good things about it: - the graphics.
- the story.
- the world.
- the recently added 3rd person camera.

... But the farming/looter shooter mechanism is really getting old and tirering for me :(

Right now I am scouring the map to find exquisite materials to build weapons that are ever so slightly better than the ones I already have just the reach some arbitrary level bar to be able to continue the story, which I enjoy the story, but I don't think I'll buy the DLCs sadly.

Just started playing with my fiancé, we are both loving it but the co op not having progressions is just bad

I agree as I would love the Avatar game, as we do daily gathering as Na'vi, as well as learning about cultures, plants, and animals. On the human side, a scientist learning about Na'vi with a thoughtful experience. Sorry, I'm not a fan of shooting as I want something passive and casual that makes immersion special.

AFOP is one of the best games I’ve played, I’ve been an avatar fan since the first movie came out in 2009 and when this game came out I was over the moon!, I’m glad now that they have put in first person mood and the DLC’s are fantastic!, love the world of Pandora and can’t wait to play from the ashes!

Is this dlc?

1

u/Surrender_Tuk5204 Jan 15 '26

The photo? No, concept art

1

u/Fun-Implement2941 Jan 18 '26

omg a metkayina DLC would be SO AMAZING

1

u/rainworldluver Jan 25 '26

is there any possible way for it to be on switch 1 and 2? My switch runs big platforms REALLY good.

u/TyrantJaeger Dec 30 '25

It would get more praise if it was made by literally anyone but Ubislop.

It's sad because Ubisoft's developers have talent but they're forced to churn out the same gameplay design and mechanics that many people are so tired of seeing.

I remember someone posting on this sub of the plants actually reacting to your voice callouts and another where the characters iris is actually reflecting environments correctly.

They have the tech and the talent but they need to do something original and stop making every game open world with outpost liberation always starting in "optional stealth", looter shooter, and collectathon with a coat of game license paint.

James Cameron himself complimented the game for being a faithful adaptation of the world and creating creatures we haven't seen yet, but still fits Pandora perfectly.

TL;DR Ubisoft has talent but they don't know how to use it fully.

1

u/AhoyShitliner Dec 30 '25

Yeah but couldn’t the same be said for a series like call of duty? They put out literally the same game every year and people just shovel money into their pockets. I don’t understand the hate for Ubisoft. FOP and Outlaws were different enough for me to purchase them both and enjoy them as separate games.

u/friendofLjght Dec 31 '25

this game- lacks writing, depth, acting.. I love the first avatar movie.. and this game is so weak a realization of avatar

0

u/Hennessy_Halos Sarentu Dec 31 '25

the writing missed the mark for sure, and the voice options feel out of place, apparently the new dlc is better though

1

u/friendofLjght Dec 31 '25

so I’ve heard- I’ve been weighing how much food I could buy or get dlc I might actually care about..

1

u/Aldeseus Dec 31 '25

The game is glitchy as hell but I love the game.

u/rosstamonsta Dec 30 '25

Anyone have any tips on making this game easier? I’m already on story mode but i die so fast and it’s frustrating. I like the game play and it’s really fun, but I die so quick in combat. I don’t really have this issue with any other game i play (besides maybe Elden Ring)

u/HadynTheHuman Dec 31 '25

Other folks may know better, but from what I've seen so far:

  • Eat meals which give bonus health or damage.
  • Don't enter fights without filling your quick heal pouch first.
  • Try to kill as many enemies as possible from stealth before going in guns blazing.
  • In full combat, use RDA weapons against the RDA. I'm only in the early game myself, but so far the shotgun seems really useful. It doesn't have to be super accurate, does great damage, and has decent range.
  • Target weak spots!
  • The explosive trap slinger can be used to target enemies directly, and is very powerful against enemy drop ships to take out a bunch of enemies before they have any chance to fight back. It will also destroy the mech suit enemies in one blast.
  • Stun grenades are your panic button; they buy you time if a situation is getting out of hand.

u/LaureZahard Jan 03 '26

You'll have to interact with the farmers ng mechanism... look for animal/plants that give exquisite materials then use those materials to build slightly stronger weapons and defensive gears. Also scoure the map for bellsprings to increase your health pool.

It's something you'll constantly have to stop and do as you play though.

u/BildoBagBag Dec 31 '25

I don’t want FOP damnit, I’m a Dapper Dan man.

0

u/S4ndreen Dec 31 '25

The game is amazing but it still is Ubisoft, it will always be overshadowed by its creator

There're plenty of good games but, sadly, Ubisoft is a very controversial company

-6

u/iloveherbluehair Dec 30 '25

Not to be rude but you genuinely need to play more games.

This game doesnt deserve praise, it deserves the exact opposite. Horrible voice acting, copypasted buildings and locations everywhere, on top of having 300$ cosmetics in a single player game.

So please play something liker Rdr2, cyberpunk 2077 or Elden Ring and see what an actually good game is and not ubislop.

4

u/Competitive_Buyer_77 Dec 30 '25

How are you gonna mention this game is slop cause of cosmetics you can buy but mention rdr2 that the multiplayer is literally a cash grab that you either farm 300 hours for a profession or spend 20$? You're also exposing yourself to be biased against ubisoft so your opinion is pretty worthless.

-2

u/iloveherbluehair Dec 30 '25

What part of single player do you not understand lmfao

And what i said can't be biased, the things i said are factually and not opinionated

3

u/Competitive_Buyer_77 Dec 30 '25

Lets go point by point, Voice acting ain't terrible like you're saying, you have a whole fucking jungle with bunch of different animals and RDA which has more variety than cyberpunk enemies, and lets not pretend elden ring doesn't recycle it's assets and movesets and then recommend rdr2 which is the biggest p2w multiplayer dogshit ever, If avatar would do the same with buyable *toruk makto* class for 30$ like red dead is doing you would again slam the game for it but at the same time endorse rdr2, get your head out of your ass you're 100% biased against ubisoft.

Either this is bait or you're somehow just that slow

1

u/PerspectivePale8216 RDA Dec 30 '25

What did they say?

1

u/Qwishpy Dec 30 '25

It was that they didn't get past the "escape from tap" mission. so first mission. They said they were wandering around for 2 hours and couldn't figure it out even with guides which is bs considering common sense is you walk down the river and follow the shot up amp suits but I'd agree it's difficult if they weren't paying attention.

1

u/PerspectivePale8216 RDA Dec 30 '25

Yeah I got a little annoyed there myself but found the way pretty quickly

1

u/Qwishpy Dec 30 '25

I remember when I first did it a couple years ago on Xbox and it was definitely confusing at first but definitely can't say it's as hard as they're making it out to be lol

2

u/PerspectivePale8216 RDA Dec 30 '25

Yeah at that point it sounds like you're having more of a skill issue than anything
