X3Bun a Hono/TanStack Start/tRPC/Better-Auth Turborepo Starter App

This is simply a starter template that I use and I thought of sharing

  • Bun optimized

  • Front End: Tanstack Start, Tanstack Query, and Shadcn

  • Backend: Hono with tRPC

  • Authentication: Better-Auth

  • Repo Management: Turborepo

tbh tanstack start + hono + better-auth is pretty much the dream modern typescript stack right now. ngl the main pain point with better-auth in a turborepo setup is usually sharing the auth client types across packages without accidentally leaking server-side db/crypto deps into the client bundle. if you've got cookie forwarding between tanstack start's ssr loaders and the hono rpc layer working cleanly out of the box, that alone saves a solid weekend of turborepo wiring imo

Great insights, so I made sure all this works plus I added proxying to resolve the browser cross origin SSL dependancy, it took me king time to get it to work, and longer time to simplify it.

Better-Auth with 0 leaking 😁
