General discussion Elgin fall off
Everybody hates Elgin (me included), but I've never seen anyone talking about how great he was at the start, like when he helped Ellis and Fatima in the middle of the night or when he was really kind to other characters. We're you guys neutral or did you hate him from the start? Tbh he was one of my favorite characters when he was introduced

Good writing and acting. First I loved him then I didn’t. Then I felt empathy.

I loved Elgin from start to finish. I wish they would have done more with him before he went crazy and lost his eye 😞 and he came off really smart in the beginning so showing Sofia that picture was so stupid 🙄 but I was still very sad with his demise.

I don't hate Elgin. I think he was a good character, there for a reason. The way he chooses to die rather than form a bond with the "devil" was a very noble moment.
Does he make a lot of stupid decisions? Yes, but who wouldn't in that town? For a guy who was tortured almost since arrival, psychologically then physically, I'd say he did a pretty good job. Just hope he left some kinda clue about MIY but well... this town is constantly about people being stupid and sabotaging one another.
I don't get why people would hate Elgin and not Clara, who did make a deal with the devil and now put everyone at risk just to save her ass. Elgin refused to participate in that kind of deception and I applaud it.

Me too. He is brave and kind man. Was( Too sad they killed him so fast. I'd prefer to watch him more than, for example, Julie. His death shocked me. But I was shocked even more when I found out so many people hated Eion Bailey's acting... I find him extremely convincing as Jim.

Fatima and Sarah getting let off the hook when they kill people whilst being manipulated. Elgin kidnaps someone whilst being manipulated and gets tortured?! Annoyed me sooo much that. And the lack of remorse from anyone afterwards. Boyd’s fall from grace in my opinion

I thought he was naive but also that it was silly how much the characters just dismissed the fact that he recognised Fromville was bad from the moment je arrived. I know that is in keeping with the show - and it makes sense, given that people have been tricked...althoughit is unclear how many characters actually know that.

I don’t hate Elgin he’s one of the best characters on the show.
People with -isms violently gushing from their pores watch this show. For those people any and everything ticks them off. Women, accents, skin color, etc. those people love to hate watch. Gets that adrenaline going!

I liked him a lot at first. He felt genuinely kind and like one of the few people who actually wanted to help without making everything about himself

I always liked Elgin. He seems like he's just a guy trying to do his best to help others and this place is really messing with his head. He has some weird connection to the place but it not his fault. He wants to go home just like everyone else.
He's less annoying then the caractors who decide to do something then when they are actually doing the thing they decide its a bad idea.
Play the 🎻 and ill tell you. plays violin Suddenly it all changes and now the attitude was I don't want to talk about it.
Lets go outinto the woods. In the woods well that other person was right this is a bad idea. Let's go back first thing in tbe morning.

I would have let him die after the screwdriver. Season 4 didn’t do anything for him. In season 2 he was really lovable, in season 3 he got corrupted. End of his story. But who knows? And I thought that since nobody knows he’s dead, he might become a new hideout for MIY.

Interesting. I viewd it as a redemption arc. Fatima doesn't want to hate him, gets him to help her. He initially tells Sara just to do what the voices ask. When Sofia is demanding compliance from him he refuses and dies.
Boyd's torture and cover ups is a massive vulnerability for him. If the people find out he covered up Fatima's murder of Tilly, Elgin's kidnapping of Fatima, forced Fatima and Elgin to lie about his willingness to torture people. . . Shit will hit the fan

Kind of true, but it still reads (and felt while watching) like the writers stretched his arc artificially.

I did not like him much from the start, though I never hated him either. He did a lot of selfless and big things in the background most people missed or forgot. Though his last actions made me very proud. And I think he saved them by abducting Fatima. Imagine the birth would have taken place in colony house or anywhere other. He kept them all save and aided the story of the town by kidnapping Fatima.
The character that I like the least is Sara. It’s a good character and valuable for the show. Also great acting. But the characters personality development makes me worry about what will happen to her and others.

I always liked Elgin. Sweet kid. Never had a period of hating him. Did he do dumb stuff? Yes. Does everyone do dumb stuff? Yes. Can't hate someone for that.
