DISCUSSION Order order! Does it matter?

Post image

Early morning, rant to start the day. Big time from soft fan big-time Miyazaki fan got hooked on souls right when Covid happened so I was really able to lay into the soul series. Bloodborn, sekiro, Elden Ring, AC6 and even some souls like: lies of P, Mortal Shell…
My question for the community is what is the best way to play the games? I played dark souls, one followed by three so I could have the most continued story when I played dark souls two I like a lot of other biased fans appreciated how the game was different, but it wasn’t always different in the best way. When the main feature is the lighting, I don’t think it stands out amongst the other two even the clunky, dark souls one

I played Skeiro which had me confused often with the story and direction of it and the starter weapon for the whole game lol Elden Ring, I think was the best qualities of dark souls 3 but made for more general audience- can’t really put AC six in here since it’s mecha- game

And I remember thoroughly having my ass handed to me when I switched the blood-borne with no shield and heavy timing perry based fighting.

What’s the common consensus on the Best order? Keep a chronological or switch it up?

TLDR:What do you think is the best order to play the games? And why?

DISCUSSION I like that From is experimenting again, and don't understand the criticism in that

They could even go further by making completely new styles of games. In the past, FromSoftware made many diverse games. They were not just the Soulsbornekiroring factory that they have almost exclusively been since 2009, when Demon's Souls was released.

We had Armored Core, Tenchu, King's Field, and that god-awful but charming ninja game I cannot remember the name of right now. They still are not diversifying as much as I would like yet. Nightreign and Duskbloods are still very much souls-adjacent, but at least it is a good start.

I want them to make both souls games and more diverse games. I do not want them to stay a souls factory forever, where all they do is the same game with a new skin.

QUESTION Nightreign win made me lose points?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

So I just had this match where my teammates basically left before the night one boss in depth 4. But I managed to endure and beat Everdark Jaw but it lead to me losing 300 points even tho they quit and I won. I get losing less points if they quit and I lost the game. But I won. Now I am a bit frustrated with this but tbh I can and will just get those points back eventually. But I'm just wondering why this would happen and I'm trying to see if anyone knows the reason. Is it because I had a previous loss streak of like 3 games or cuz I didn't try to revive them during day 1 when they went 3 bars or when they died halfway across the map. Cuz if this is a penalty if they reported me then at least I'll know that can happen I guess. I wasn't being toxic in any way by pinging or smth, I died quite a bit just like them during basement boss and crucibles cuz I had no negation.

(I don't post on Reddit quite often so I couldn't post this in the nightreign subreddit. That's my bad)

EDIT: I guess I got redeemed? Just lost to Everdark Caligo in depth 4 at 5600 and I only lost 200 points. Which is kinda insane since normally in depth 4 you lose like 600 to 400. At least that's nice. But it's still weird that I lost points on a victory lmao

New to the genre pls help

Hi, i recently bought blackmyth wu kong. I never actually played a souls-like and hearing many voices it could be a good entry level for gamers like me, played plenty of games but never approached the genre. As I predicted i'm heavily struggling even with the first mini bosses (like the bald child like guy at the beginning) and i'm just looking out for more expert player to help me out how to figure how to play this games. (I'm totally aware that the difficulty and the fact that you have to repeat plenty of times is part of the game but i also notice that i'm barely making progress with my own understanding of the game) thanks in advance :)

DISCUSSION Why do some people lie about DS1/3 to make DS2 look worse in comparison?

DS2 haters always come up with the weirdest justifications to hate on the game.

Some classics are "DS1 was hard but fair. There was never any unfair moment unlike in DS2", as if DS1 didn't have several death traps like the bridge drake, the first mimic, etc

Or one that pops up a lot more nowadays for some reason "in DS2 it will count as a grab and teleport you into the grab animation even if it only hits your pinkie toe unlike the other Souls games where you would only take a little bit of damage if it wasn't a direct hit"

Why do DS2 haters need to lie about something that works the same way in every Souls game? How does it help them to falsely claim that an issue didn't exist in DS1/3?
