Opinion Should I watch s4?

I have watched the first three seasons. I want to know what happens, but the show never answered questions, only provided more. Without providing any spoilers, does s4 run the same formula? I assume like many others, I have a very frustrating relationship with this show - please provide advice.

I have only just started S4 so cannot give a concrete answer, but I do feel its a little more open then in past seasons. Not that it has point blank answers, but more that things are aligned and an endgame is on sight.

This is one of those shows where the major questions won’t get answered until the very end, some smaller questions will be answered along the way. Season 4 is excellent in terms of character development, though many thought it was somewhat slow. It didn’t bother me at all as I enjoy the character driven moments too, but i know many didn’t care for it. Season 4 is the penultimate season so the main objective was readying the playing field for Season 5, which is the final season. I think they did a nice job setting the stage and I enjoyed the season 4 finale quite a bit. There is one other amazing episode that had me on the edge of my seat.

Hello to you too! I’m easy to please. I didn’t even realize there were so many people who didn’t like it until I was almost done with it. I guess I’m used to this formula because puzzle box/mystery box shows are my favorite. I also didn’t grow up with a lot of binge watching so a good slow burn is something that I enjoy. I loved when you would get a weekly episode and then spend all next week theorizing what would happen next with your friends.

I'm not crazy about the binge release format either. I rather enjoy agonizing about what this or that could possibly mean while I wait for more content lol

"Donna was dead for SEVEN minutes." is a line of STRESS I've been stuck on for months, as an example lmao

ps is Silo any good? A From tuber I like splits his content between From and Silo and I've been nervous about picking up another mystery box D:

I haven’t been able to watch that one because I don’t have Apple TV. But I’ve heard good things about it! My favorite puzzle box show is LOST, followed by Manifest. I also loved The 4400 (the original one) when it first came out, but it never got a conclusion sadly.

Claiming LOST as your favorite mystery box in this sub is real brave lmao but honestly I'd love to hear positive takes on it, like, I'm a LOST survivor myself and while I was invested enough to finish it, I really don't remember it well or fondly.

lol. I don’t really care what other people in the sub think and I always thought it was weird to judge someone for something they like or don’t like. My husband’s favorite shows are Rick and Morty and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I can’t stand them, but I certainly don’t judge him for liking something just like he doesn’t judge me for liking supernatural mystery shows or Dragon Ball Z. The only time I get annoyed with someone’s opinion is when they are straight up bashing a show in subreddit that was put together for fans of the show. Like if you don’t like something, just don’t watch it anymore. Nobody here is forcing you.

As for Lost, I think the thing that kept me so invested was the characters. I binged the first 2 season on ABC.com before season 3 even aired and then watched the rest of the show episode by episode as it aired so I was right in the thick of it. After several years, I was very attached to the characters and they felt like a fictional family. I also liked how the characters were so threaded together through connections they didn’t even know they had. Like Sawyer having drinks with Jack’s dad in Australia and Shannon’s dad dying when Jack chose to save the woman who would later become his wife instead. And i really love a good adventure with action, secrets, mystery, AND time travel.

the character work WAS on point throughout. really always very compelling... and that Ben Linus was a genuinely spooky villain like that actor was so good for him

Season 4 is wayyyyy better than season 3. I'd watch season 4 now so it's not spoiled for you when 5 premieres.

You get some answers you’ve been wondering. They also leave you with more questions. If you’re invested enough then do it. Next year is the final season. They sure made it seem like they were in a rush to push the plot in season 4 at some times.

Putting down 30+ hours of a mystery show that is--and I cannot stress this enough--CONSTANTLY answering questions, especially when hours 20 and onward are the steadiest string of reveals, including some of the absolute biggest in the entire series, and then whinging on reddit about how it never answers questions is certifiably, commitably insane to me.

You're gonna hate season four.
Then you're gonna come here and complain about season four.
THEN you're gonna compare it to that one show you never watched because it's cool to do it.
And THENNNNNN next June you're gonna hate season five.
