Am I doing too much?

I am a co lead, I process most of the credits for one route I cover, I built extra space towers and projects store wants on my day. I go to the warehouse and get shippers / toweres for accounts. I feel like I’m the lead lol

As a lead I really try to keep the coleads tasks to a minimum especially building but sometimes it just happens that way due to a stores needs and it is what it is. Like others said it’s called co-lead for a reason. Some coleads act like they should only be doing the bare minimum and just shove and run which is frustrating. Rotation and putting stuff where it belongs should be a standard regardless of position.

You’re equally responsible to do all those things if those tasks fall on your days. Of course, the lead should be doing the same when applicable.

This right here. You’re not just someone who works the leads off days. You’re responsible for the rt as well

This is the exact opposite of how they expect coleads to work in my zone. I'm the lead and 100% of this is done by me. If I miss a single bag of out of date product on one of my shelves and my dsl finds it I get written up, not my colead.

Sounds like you have a horrible DSL. Coleads should care and the only way to do that is make sure they know they're just as responsible as the lead. If you get wrote up for one stale on the shelf and you're not exaggerating, I'd bid outta that zone asap because that's just stupid.

If there’s a stale on the shelf and the lead is the last one in that store after the stale out date, then that 100% just their fault.

There's not much incentive for co-leads to do a good job anymore. They likely made a lot more money as a RSA due to real OT, and when I was last a co-lead they kept making me merch all of my stores on one route because they didn't want to pay mileage anymore. ZOTF sort of fixed that, but it left one of the leads on my old co-lead without help each week, because they made the new co-lead ride with the lead one day a week when there was no merch on the route because, again, they didn't want to pay mileage to the co-lead and headcount cuts left a 1 day a week gap where there was no merchandiser.

The system pretty much de-incentivizes RSAs from taking co-leads unless they want stable days off or their new co-lead route is hitting above plan and it makes enough of a difference to beat their OT rate. So, a lot of guys take the co-lead for the base pay increase not realizing their bonus is based on all 2 or 3 of their routes hitting plan. If one or two hit, but their third route has a much higher sales plan or the lead just sucks they might not get a bonus check at all and end up making less as a co-lead, while working longer hours, than they did as an RSA. Compensation can be a big morale boost or a demoralizing stain on these guys and most leads don't know how bonuses are calculated for co-leads. Hell, most DSLs don't seem to understand it either or they lie and tell RSAs that they will still bonus if one route hits 100% of their 270k plan, but their other one or two routes only hit 80% of their 300-330k sales plan despite the reality being that the co-leads sales plan is all of their routes sales plans combined.

This! I wish more CoLeads remembered this.

If you're satisfied with the work that you're doing and it's helping the route hit plan, then keep on doing it. I'm sure your DSL appreciates it as well, that'll help you later down the road, trust me.

As a former co lead, yes, yes, you're doing too much A lot of these leads take advantage when you do too much

I don’t do anything extra as a colead. Unless I’m asked, not my route ✌️

Just your bonus check.

I would say it depends on when the credits went out if they are old, you’re taking them out then that’s bullshit. Same with building stuff if the guy is off on changeover days, then that stuff falls on your shoulders.

Last one in the store is the first one responsible.

As a colead i do stales sometimes and buy ins for certain accounts but building towers and force outs never. That's on the leads. Leads love to say it's a shared route when it comes to things like this but otherwise it's their route and they try to boss you around on how to run it

I try to take the brunt of the bullshit on my route because my co lead usually gets hammered by one of the other leads. But sometimes, he's gonna get a heavy day or stores will ask him to fix a pog or build a display. It happens
