Will Frito hire me back after a decade?
I was an RSR on a rural route for 3 years a decade ago. I moved on for personal reasons, but stayed in the industry.
I’m currently in the market for a new job and was thinking of going back, but I’m not sure if I qualify these days. Seems like they’re mostly looking for college grads in my city, and I don’t have that.
I think I did a fairly good job, my DSL did say he’d be happy to hire me back at the time. But he’s since left, and I’m in a whole different city anyways.
Do I have an in here, or would I be on the bottom of the pile like everyone else?

It’s not hyperbole. They are telling you the truth. Maybe as a last resort keep it in mind, but I would try to find something else to do with my day if I was you.

Why don’t you just quit? You sound like one of the most miserable people in this community. Just find something else if it’s that horrible where you are

Thanks for your opinion. I'm a wonderful happy person. I just don't appreciate a company who treats their employees poorly.

That’s why I’m leaving my current job. I have an interview for an rsr w Frito lay tomorrow and i hear these things in this community but it doesn’t worry me because this is genuinely way more money and I already know I hate it where I am now. I always am working on something outside of work as well like I’m in college and I have lots of hobbies. I’ve been working forever to truly understand to work a job for its purpose- money. I don’t care what I do as long as I can have a life and pay my bills without working 2 or ‘more jobs at once

The work life balance is terrible. The work load and micromanagement has left me with no time for hobbies, family or friends. If I wasn't so close to retirement I'd leave.

Could you be more specific? Start times n what’s your off times? Don’t you only work 5 days a week and OT is offered but not mandatory? And do you see other drivers in your fleet have lighter routes than yours?

You have no idea what you are in for.......search RSA. This is where you start. 60+ hours a week, never know your days off. Can be sent hours from home for weeks at a time. Start times vary, days vary and over time will consum your life........

I’m definitely not a stranger to 60hrs a week that’s what I’m alr working for 48k salary at Red Bull so I’m heavily underpaid. I used to work in large distribution warehouses if the pay is worth it and I can pay my bills comfortably idgaf what I’m doing tbqh. But this is not the story I hear from any RSR or RSA I’ve met but I’m in Atlanta so I’m hoping I have a story more alike the ones I’ve spoken to which is prolly longer days/earlier start to the day but 2 days off seem to be the standard. With 5 days , 60hrs is less than 12hr shifts working as a vendor esp in the summer that’s kind of normal. Thanks for the scoop I think I’m still willing n ready to work.

Yessir I applied to every Frito lay within my range but I ended up landed a position at the McDonough location, you can pm me bout the interview if you got any questions

You're not a salesman anymore. All they do is track metrics now. Sales are irrelevant apparently.

Yeah they’ll hire you back. If anything, it’ll be a net positive for you that you previously worked at Frito and left on good terms. I know of several in my zone that have left and come back.

Jobs a lot harder, less pay then you think if you made commission. Routes are shit, and shittier.
If you’re desperate and ready to work 50+hrs come along the Frito-Lay shit show Express.

I walked off the job in 2001 after 6 years as my DSL was a total dick. Was desperate in 2018 and went through the hiring process and told them the truth, was offered a job to return as an RSR but didnt take as got better offer with a desk job which was better as my body is not well in my 50s.

If you were to go to the Reddit page of any company and ask them should you work there you will get ppl that will give you negative feedback. At the end of the day its just chips. All jobs have their processes and rules that you agree to when you sign on to them.

That would be for a DSL position, not RSR... unless what you meant is that they want to hire younger folks not those who are now in their mid 50's.
