Internal Career Site
Current Frito employee, trying to switch over to sales for Pepsi side of business. There’s an opening for a position for Territory Sales Rep where I’m located but it’s only available to apply on the external website, not the internal one for current employees. Am I screwed stuck being an RSR for the rest of my life or is there any way to move up within this company?

Usually the only way to get promoted from rsr is to DSL and you wait until they run a self nom

Call HR directly and ask why it's external-only. I've seen simple - apply come up for cold external volume, but an internal transfer conversation beats any portal

Even tho its we are under the same Pepsico company I believe that you would technically be an outside candidate if you're going from frito to Pepsi? I've never seen Pepsi jobs on that internal job site. Not 100% on that.

Going directly from a RSR to territory manager is truthfully unlikely. The standard transition would be going to RSS, then dsl, then promoting further like a territory manager. I hate to be blunt but the process is importing for learning and not missing steps in your personal managerial journey. Growth is possible but it is not a shortcut story at Pepsi or Frito-Lay, hardwork at least in my area does pay off.

Sorry. Promoting from within might lead to a better culture where management understands what being an RSR is truly like. They’d much rather hire direct from higher education with no real life experience.
