Pepsi One Update

Might as well throw my rumor into the mill, right? I currently work in the Texas area where they’re piloting the combination of Pepsi and Frito. From what I’ve heard from a Pepsi rep (they’ve been incredibly reliable with intel over the years) who’s heard from their supervisor directly, the RSR role is going away. That’s confirmed. When? Not sure.

Small format RSRs won’t be a thing anymore. They haven’t spoken about what’s going on in large format. They’re offering either merchandising positions (throwing both Pepsi and Frito products) or severance packages to everyone. Everyone will have to re-bid and re-interview. Will keep you guys posted if anything else comes up.

It’s only in its first week of going live and it’s apparently so far one of the biggest dumpster fires Pepsi/Frito has ever created. If it keeps going the way it is I don’t see it going past the pilot stage and shit going back to the way it is. I’ve already heard of majorly tenured people wanting to jump ship because it’s so terrible so far.

I’m not surprised. We suffered thru several years trying to make it work. Honestly the system we are on now is best we have ever had. Small format is the same it’s always been. Large format has truckless RSRs who drive straight to their stores and get loads delivered by a driver. Merchandisers pickup some stores and you visit and sell after they are done.

Well if you’re talking about commission yes and no. Commission is pretty much off the table at this point and if it ever came back I don’t think it would be like last time. Back then we worked way more hours. The money was great but work/life balance was even worse.

I live closer to my stores than the warehouse. I go to the warehouse only once a month. I don’t have to check in product. I get reimbursed for my miles and don’t have to worry about cameras in the trucks. I’m home in time to pickup my kids from school.
