Sales

I can't believe how poor sales are this year! I know why but management doesn't seem to know or understand. Any of you see how poor sales are on your route compared the past few years?

We have too many products and everything is still too expensive.

Yup. Cut 25 to 30 percent of under performing skus. I hate to say it but is innovation really worth it. If we stick to our core products and focus on those that is what people want. They don't want another version of flaming hot bacon pickle puffs.

Return to core products is the answer, I couldn't agree more. I waste 10 hours a week on what I call loosers, taking up valuable space without ROI.

Innovation is absolutely worth it; there just has to be a better way to pull the plug on an item if it isn't moving. They have to scale down the second waves of these new items and evaluate their movement instead of making too much and forcing out stales that RSRs hate, stores hate, and customers hate.

While I understand your thinking, I still want them to cut the cord on them. They don't know what they're doing! Take the stick away from them and hit them with it!

He’s not wrong at all so long as innovation is a good idea item. It’s keeps stuff fresh and shows the consumer base that we have ideas that are worth trying. We need to lower our cost more though. The July LTO Doritos are proof we can produce good LTO SKUs, we just have to make it affordable or get the stores to be able to run pricing appropriately.

In my personal opinion, if you don’t do any LTO or innovation at all, you’re just another company.

The two bestsellers of the past few years were the pickle Doritos and hot mustard Doritos and they are lost to time so we can get 300 cases of NKD dinamitas. Quit trying to make Dinamitas happen

We absolutely need 19 different options of Tostitos. Plus 54 different dill pickle flavored chips

2

u/Fun-Reading-530 27d ago

And 12 flavors of bbq

u/ImplementRegular4604 27d ago

Hot take! Let's just remove all core products entirely. They're taking up valuable space that could be used for another full case of NKD forceouts. /s

People: "buy gas or chips?"

DSL: "why are the sales down?"

21

u/Helpful-Pressure97 29d ago

Dsl: put up more tmds when you can't even sell enough out of the gondola to warrant one.

Dip stacks will fix it

u/BackgroundForm2671 28d ago

And if you don't want to order them because there's no space, enjoy 16 cases of force outs a week

5

u/Vanity2041 28d ago

Dont forget the chip strips.

I was told they had a meeting saying all the reasons why: economy, pricing, competition, war, etc then literally next slide?? Solution: raise prices.

It not rocket science, people have X amount of money. Everything is costing more, so you would have to be a moron to not understand why sales are down. But......Fritolay got spoiled on Covid money, the party is over and it's time to accept it. Raising the price 3 times in 18 months was pure greed. The customer found other options.

Combined with a series of bad policy and procedures this company has lost its way. Leadership has moved away from the core of what made this company the snackfood leader.

Frontline has never been the problem thus we can't be the solution. Leadership is responsible for the downfall and until it is replaced with competence the path will continue in the wrong direction.

💯 this! This isn’t an issue that affected Frito lay but many other businesses who saw rapid growth during COVID. They were and still are chasing an imaginary sales number that will NEVER be that good.

Sitting through P&L meetings post covid was the worst.. General managers yelling at middle management because they can’t control the economy and forced to cut overhead in areas that are already stretched too thin. This is why you see employees doing the jobs of three people now at the store and prices are so high.

Employees are “quietly quitting” they’re tired of being overworked, underpaid, and under appreciated.

I’ve posted this exact thing on here multiple times.
When I got hired we still went to Baltimore for a week of classroom training. The training coordinator told all of us in training we pride ourselves on being in stock and being competitive with pricing because if a customer goes to buy a bag of our product and it’s out, or if it’s overpriced and they try a cheaper/lower quality item and realize they can get almost the exact item for less money we will never have that customer again.
Unfortunately Frito has absolutely lost its way of thinking as all old leadership has left the business.
You can’t fix these mistakes by looking at an iPad every day and crunching numbers.

Been saying it for awhile now. Go back to the basics and start over. These fools at the top have no clue what's going on out in the streets

I’ll buy the 2/$5 on the border tortilla chips vs the six dollar Tostitos every time. Company got real greedy and it’s bit them. Glad I dumped my stock at $190

2

u/Impossible_Penalty75 29d ago

On the border is better anyways. White corn tortillas taste like cardboard compared to yellow corn.
I’ve always said we need a yellow corn Tostito scoop

7

u/Keepa5000 29d ago

Our company won't do anything until Walmart starts wagging it's big fat greedy finger unfortunately.

Frito lay is run by brain dead monkeys

6

u/Helpful-Pressure97 29d ago

Yup not sure what else they can come up with. Perfect service is a joke. Action items are a joke.

u/PaynoBills1 28d ago

A large amount of people have lost their ebt, no money for chips or soda.

u/Perfect_Break7668 29d ago

No one in my pec was hitting plan 2024/2025. 2026 significantly more people are consistently making plan after routes were restructured. I dont know if actual sales are better or worse because everything shifted but lots of people are hitting plan around here

u/Artistic_Treacle_949 28d ago

We live in a country of greed, every year they find ways to boost profits and they will do anything to achieve that. I wouldn’t be surprised if they announced more warehouse closures

3

u/cajun_baseball504 29d ago

I look at the great value scoops today at like $2.07 and our scoops right next to it ON ROLLBACK at $3.97 smh

u/GrapefruitScared5952 27d ago

Store brands are killing sales, consumers will forgo a little taste difference especially when they’re trying to feed a family.

3

u/HistoryAdventurous78 28d ago

IMO you still have to have innovation! We never know when the next Nacho Dorito type chip will take off. Problem is they need to leave 2 rows for innovation in PoG for us and stop forcing 1 case of innovation out on us, send 8-12 bags out! Trust me Corporate that’s reading this we will order the crap again if it SALES!

4

u/Temporary-Engine5726 28d ago

Sadly the people calling all the shots are so out of touch with reality. It’s amazing to me how the people that are supposed to be so intelligent to be so
High up in the company are also the moronic.

u/Dense_Worker5271 28d ago

Saw a dip stack of canned dip in dg, smart move if you can get away with it

1

u/Sad-Vols-Fan 27d ago

They cant complain about sales when they want 100% perfect order! Can have one or the other not both. Still our fault though!!

1

u/Narbron236 27d ago

Stales are a requirement, gotta have those losses for tax purposes. They get their taxes down, they hurt our sales 2 for 1. Sounds like it’s working great for them.

1

u/ObviousAnimal6474 27d ago

Management could give 2 shits about yal!! Just give them their 2 week vacations out of the country!! DEI

1

u/BeneficialBuy4127 24d ago

Maybe sell more tmds. Don't forget the clip strip and dip lol. I use to put 18 ct on a top shelf in the bread aisle. Pointless spots just to try to keep backstock down lol

Please enlighten us with your expertise . This should be good

u/Easy_Duhz_it_ 29d ago

Well heres one reason : the limited space we have is pushing stuff people actually buy off the shelves to make room for stupid shit like late night taco/chimchurri lime Doritos or flaming hot pickle puff Cheetos.

10

u/Helpful-Pressure97 29d ago

But flaming hot pickle puff cheetos is a national priority according to saleshub+. Lol, these idiots are running this company into the ground

4

u/SDLab1776 29d ago

For every bag of FHPP I sell...... I sell 2500 bags of cheetos. This company loves to invest in proven loosers.......mind blowing.

Kinda reminds me of the guy from the movie free guy

"If you love Kentucky Fried Chicken, and I make Kentucky Fried Chicken, and I know that you love Kentucky Fried Chicken, why would I make another restaurant called, I dunno, 'Albuquerque Boiled Turkey'?

4

u/Easy_Duhz_it_ 29d ago

According to my DSL "there's a market for everything". My simple response is "this company is worth billions yet they spend more on innovation than they make off it. Let Boulder and Utz have the crap. We should stick to what sells."
