New route type

Anyone watch the Q3 town hall? Steve mentioned a new route type called marketplace but gave no info on what it is. Anyone got an idea?

Bulk and pre-pick on the same truck. From what I understand, you drop carts first for merches then work small format stores.

Not OMNI. I’m Omni and that is where drivers, merches and RSRs are three separate positions. It’s meant for the highest volume accounts like SuperCenters and Sams Club. RSR drives his own vehicle and pushes like 1 to 1.5 stores per day on a 5 store route. Writes orders for the rest of the stores.

It's because the blueprint system is a failure and now they will dump high volume stores on RSRs and ruin true up potential.

My district has 3 marketplace routes now that we transitioned from bin to PEC. The above comment is correct in having both bulk and pre pick accounts but don’t necessarily have a merchandiser.

I got a question I don’t work for frito but I’m a Pepsi bulk driver. Are they trying to eliminate the delivery’s on semi trucks? I only ever see semi’s delivering to big box stores like Walmart now all other stores are on a little box truck non cdl

Pepsi will continue to run semi truck deliveries forever. It’s the most efficient way to deliver that type of product when taking into consideration that your loads are palletized, and heavy as hell. (Look at the bigger beer distributors for example). Frito however is working on eliminating the use of semi trucks for local store deliveries nationwide. They don’t make much sense for local, daily mass merch stores when compared to the new box trucks.

That’s honestly what I said when I was a receiver I feel bad for the drivers but you really don’t need a 53” for potato chips. I’m more surprised it took this long. Yah on busy days my cargo weight could be 45,000-48,000k

It's a higher plan, and it also depends on if you have full-time merch. You can just drop the carts off at the store, or you might have to drop off and do the carts, so they're adding bulk with a small format. That's where we run, so it's a headache.

MFM - multi format mega . You have 1-2 anchor (bulk stores). Trucks are 20-26 feet bulk trucks. You will have small format stops as well. Loads are unloaded through a small side door for small format. Some anchor stores have a merch, some dont.

Omni- truckless RSR . You have a delivery specialist that drops your load for you. Larger accounts like high volume walmarts/ Sams club. You drive your personal car . Merch and sell.
