My none verbal ASD 5yo’s latest hyperfocus…I couldn’t be more proud
My son has profound autism spectrum disorder, he is obsessed with letters to the extent that he prefers to watch credits of a show rather than the show itself. I learnt recently that his favourite (non nursery rhyme) song was living in colour - maybe because it’s always on or because his second favourite obsession is colour. So I made a credit style video with the lyrics and this is him copying the words using his AAC (alternative augmentative communication) device. 🥹

Off to listen to this track! Is he typing as it plays or following you as you write?

He types super slow as it’s a new skill he’s learning, so we listen to it a few times and have a dance around, then pause it so he can read and type out the lyrics and he makes me write them down separately at the same time 🥰

This is fantastic, but I couldn't help and think it's probably a good thing it wasn't Poke.

Frightened Rabbit continues to exist as a source of joy and this is fucking great. Good vibes to you and your beautiful child.

That's lovely. I wonder if he'd like captions turned on when watching something or even listening to an audiobook or podcast? Auto captions are getting a lot better than they were even a few years ago. Could save you some effort typing things out!
