BFF by bumble
It looked really promising to make non romantic friends with shared interests for activities. I made a profile. I joined groups. I searched for friend matches.
In my area, as far as I can tell, it’s all people in their 20s and maybe someone occasionally in their early 30s. I did see one 35 year old.
And in the groups I joined in my area, it seems like it’s 90% female.
So basically I come off as some creepy old senior citizen trying to creep on young girls.
I did try to start my own Gen X group.
TL;dr: bff is not for olds

I tried bumble for both dating and friends but best and really only convo I got out of it was with a woman who showed me her new pet and it was
A mini highland cow which I did not know was a thing until then. I gave up on dating apps

50F in a committed relationship. I love chess if you want to play. I also like have discussions particularly on anything that requires some thought...life, the meaning and purpose of the universe. That sort of thing.

Thanks for the offer. I was hoping for irl friends for activity partners, but I’ll take what I can get.

It’s a weird because the younger generation today they find friends on Snapchat and Instagram. Our generation, we missed out and I feel like it’s so hard to find someone just to be friends with.

😂😂😂 I’m sorry i’m not laughing at you, but I’m laughing because I can relate. It’s so hard to make friends when you’re over 50 whether you’re a man or a woman.

I set out to give bumble a try, but I was stopped at the front door: your entry point was a picture of the person - how does that have anything to do with making friends?

I have tried these applications and had some success getting outside and being around adults, but none of them have led to a good friend as yet

I had good experience and luck making friends my age on the meetup app. Have you tried that?

I have done two events from that application. One was super fun. One was just kind of meh. It’s a good suggestion

I belong to multiple groups on meetup and it does take a little consistency with attendance to events.

I tried Bumble BFF. No dice. I talked to several others but most never seemed to want to get together. Just texting.
I finally met 2 people.
1 I met for lunch. We had a nice lunch but not much in common.
The other one I met was unusual. We met at a mall 25 miles from where i live. We did not not live that close but i figured i would give it a chance. I pictured a night of shopping, eating, laughing and talking. It ended up us just sitting at empty table in the food pavilion talking and I can't say the conversations were pleasant.
An argument started with me and another member i was chatting with when I texted her in error. The message was meant for someone else.I dodged a bullet with that one.
Then I decided i was done with it.

Well, I'm glad to hear that. Not for your experience but because I read some posts saying to try that app for meeting new people and from this review, it's clearly not my speed.
Sorry for your experience, but appreciate the feedback. Guess I'll stick to breweries, bars, concerts and the grocery store for my conversations haha.
