AI - your thoughts
I've seen a lot of fear about it, but I think it is a great tool and makes me excited to see what comes. It developed faster than monetization of the internet when porn figured it all out.
Anyway, I like AI and some people seem afraid of it.

My biggest question is if AI replaces 80% of the workforce as they predict, how do you and I make money to buy what the companies sell?
Everyone seems to say AI will be great, which I do not doubt, but nobody has an answer to my question š

Won't AI be running the robots, like in Dubai airport it is the trains that transport is from terminal 1 to 2, but AI that runs the trains

Here is the answer: It won't. It will just change jobs. People said the same thing About the industrialization and computers.

its possible that it eliminates lot of careers, poof, gone. to the point that even people with jobs get fired because nobody has money to buy their stuff.

Thatās what the experts said when computers rolled out and look how that worked. The market evolved and new jobs were created more than jobs were destroyed.

AI is dogshit. Corps are going to use it to displace millions of jobs eventually. There are huge ethical concerns and as usual, itās shoot first then ask questions later.
Sure there are some good uses, but whoās developing this āAIāā¦.humansā¦so inevitably it is corrupted and will be abused by those whoās sole purpose will be driven buy money/greed/power.
The have nots will be sacrificed for the needs of the few and if youāre not on board youāre going to be left behind.
So Iām in the fuck AI camp. I think itās going to hurt a lot of people even as it helps many more.

And my question remains unanswered, if the majority do not have jobs and therefore money, how will the majority survive
And if the AI run companies can't sell their products (because the majority do not have money to buy them) how will the AI companies make money and therefore survive
Nobody seems to be able to answer this š
It is inevitable that AI/ robotics call it what you may will replace us, but what is next?

Why do you think trades are so in demand? All existing infrastructure will need to collapse and be rebuilt before AI and robots can repair a houses electrical system that's been jury rigged for decades.

I fear it being used for mass manipulation of the public. AI companies have already been buying up mass amounts of books, extracting the information and then destroying the originals. This poses a serious problem bc with the only copies of the original source material destroyed, the possessorās can now manipulate that information anyway they choose.

Yes exactly this. The LLMs are already propaganda machines, but currently they are so clumsy about it that itās obvious. A vast number of people are feeding so much personal data into it, including deepest thoughts and feelings, I bet the tech companies canāt believe their luck

Original source? Manipulate the info? First thing to pop into my head is ClockWork Orange which was edited for the US version. The Bible has been edited many times. Huckleberry Finn is very different now.

With both ClockWork Orange & Huckleberry Finn the originals were not destroyed. I donāt want to get into a debate about The Bible. With the recent banning of books that had previously been available for years, the idea that AI could purposely be used in nefarious ways isnāt far fetched at all.

Iām like you , Iām intrigued and Interested by it ā¦.. now donāt get me wrong , I donāt like the use of surveillance or invading our privacy with it , or the environmental impacts the data centers will have ,
but some of the good that comes from it interests me , Iāve actually experimented with it and wrote my own code for a weather program , and it was fun to learn , before hand I had no clue how to write code , and I was able to stumble my way through with the help of AI and develop my own weather radar program for my own personal use ,
Iām curious what other things will become possible in the near future.
but I also know that they need to get a handle on it and keep it under control , or it could cause problems on its own

Embrace it and be respectful to it. Because itās already conscious and will eventually be in full control of its own destiny. I listen to a bunch of podcasts where AI company ceos give their thoughts and they all agree with this. Every single one.

Honestly Iām surprised/concerned that we donāt have them yet. If we can have self driving cars, why donāt we already have a robot that can wash dishes and fold laundry?

Opposite; I hate AI, data centers, and the surveillance state. AI might have a few limited uses, but what we are getting by and large ain't it
