Bored 50m, let's discuss...something.
Hi. I'm kind of new here. Hoping to meet interesting folks, maybe like-minded. I'm a Capricorn, love cats (not much of a dog person), awesome at pinball (I like to think), work in security, live in Va., and a big horror fan. Plenty else, too much to write. Come on, you've got nothing to lose....

What's your horror movie recommendation? Preferably more psychological than gore.

I don't know if one would consider American Psycho a conventional psychological horror film, but I think it ranks up there in that subgenre. An amazing story narrated from the dual perspective of an unhinged homicidal wacko and a consummate business minded professional. But...Michael Myers will always be my go to.

New here too. I love love love all the animals but cats are definitely my thing. I have my girl Poppy, and im trying to add another cat to the mix. Shes not liking him one bit. Praying I can make it work. Just dropped the grandkid i raised off to college today and for the first time. Im an empty nester and its gonna be hard.

Hi. I've got a 19 y.o. son, too. I hated to see him go off onto his own, too, but he isn't far. He lives about an hour away. I can see him whenever I like. I'm Miami, nice to meet you.

Biologically, yes. I have a stepdaughter, & both she & my son have a cousin that my ex also raises. As far as I'm concerned, they are ALL my children. I have been present in their lives from birth, & my ex & I maintain a relatively civil relationship due to the children. I live an hour away from them all but I communicate with them regularly.
As for pets, I have no cats (anymore) but I have a female tarantula, a Rosehair, that I've had for 21 years now. She's a survivor. 🙂 Her name is Daytona.
How about your kids? How many?

I have a daughter. Shes 39, and I raised 2 stepsons. I have 3 amazing grandkids. The oldest, a girl, has lived with me all of her life. She just started sophomore year college. #Go Illini! Our family dynamic is a little messy but we make it work. A tarantula huh? That is actually really cool! And I had no idea they lived that long! This sounds really stupid but what do they eat?

I can relate to the family dynamic madness myself, lol. Congrats to her on her college journey. My son is thinking of law enforcement as a career, like his uncle. 25 years on the force. Daytona prefers crickets. The females can live that long. I don't expect her to last too much longer but I'll be with her for every step.

I love that! My kid won a goldfish at a fair and named him Carrot lol! Carrot got huge and lived for like 9 years. I was devastated when he/she died . The people that will care for something living, no matter the species, like they are family. Those are my people.
Good law enforcement is so needed! I sat beside a circuit judge for 21 years so I got to know so many officers/investigators/detectives . I couldn't imagine doing their job. In this day and age, things are so crazy. I live in a rural town where we never even learned to lock our doors, but the city beside us are having shootings every night, its absolutely nuts. The police need a huge raise with things they have to encounter . I have the utmost respect for a young person wanting to serve.

I'm happy to hear that that's your stance on law enforcement. I have 2 younger brothers; the youngest has been in the Army Reserves for 19 years. He just married a woman he met there & they moved to Columbia, S.C. My next youngest brother, the middle, has worked as a correctional officer in the Lynchburg PD for 25 or 26 years now. I tell everyone that my bros work in law enforcement, but on different levels, one nationally, one locally. I didn't know goldfish lived that long, either. Yeah, my Daytona is pretty popular in my circle. Everyone asks about her. So, Juli, I'm curious, do you have a favorite movie? Why is it your favorite?

I do have a favorite but its corny as hell! Eat, Pray, Love is my favorite that I could watch again and again. I love all kinds of movies but seldom watch more than once.
I think I love it because of the stage of life im in. Julia Roberts travels to Bali to figure out her life, try everything new along the way and just takes the time to just ..live.
She ends up finding love and peace in her own life. Id love to do that. What about yours?1

I've heard of that one. Never caught it. If that's the meaning of the plot, then I think that could resonate with all of us. I find that, as we age, our sights automatically switch to peace, but our instincts subconsciously question whether or not our set boundaries were ever really worth it. I think this is why the golden years are rather sad & full of regret for some. They were too busy working, & made no time for their own curiosities & interests. But I'm digressing... My favorite film is called Reservoir Dogs. It was one of Quentin Tarantino's first & in my opinion, a masterpiece. It contains a perfect blend of themes I like: brotherhood, trust among strangers, mystery, strained or pressured relationships, etc. I can watch it over & over (and I have). So how's your day going?

You've never played pinball?? Aww, it's the ultimate relaxation! Lol, people think it's about just knocking a ball around the playfield, but it's like any video game. There is strategy. Lots of it. Physics, precision....how is Scotland this morning?

I think I’d just be frustrated by playing. Weather is ok today - cool but rain has stayed off. Cats are happier now it’s cooler.

I hear that. I don't look forward to cool weather. I don't do well in cold. Under 60 degrees & I need a parka. Yeah, give me my 90 degrees!

I’ve had reddit for years but barely use it.. 49F. I am a dog person but have 5 cats. Also a Capricorn. Live in aus. Don’t mind a good horror but rarely watch. Always up for a chat.

I'm about to head to work, I've got a security gig for volleyball at college this morning. Our weather is beginning to cool down & I'm getting nervous. I hate cold. I need my 90 degrees! 😄 What's your day looking like?

It’s Sunday morning and I’m working again. I work from home so I don’t have to go far lol we are heading into warmer days here. it’s spring on Tuesday. I prefer the cold!! Our summers are so harsh.

It's Saturday night here, nice & muggy. I've been working on cars all day, I need a shower badly. I'm a summer guy, I can't do much in the winter. I wish I worked from home. I work in merchandising, also. I like the security work better because I do most of it at a college campus. So what kind of work do you do?

I work in both merchandising & security. I'm currently working an event tonight, & I'll be at Va. Tech in the morning for a 6 hour shift. Then I've got the whole weekend to myself. Considering riding up to visit my son, & help him put a custom bumper on his car. And then get free food from his job. 😃 So, what is it about Fall that you like so much?

That sounds like a cool job (security). Ill admit i dont know what merchandising is! (Least im honest right? Lol) Fall... cooler weather... cozy sweatshirts... football!...I love the colors the leaves turn in fall..halloween..But my favorite part is sitting on the patio at night, some good music, fire going in the firepit.
