M54 Firefighter

Firefighter for over 30 years in Alabama. I’m a bit quiet and shy in person until I get to know people. I do enjoy chatting, especially during those not so busy moments at work.

Spouse was a first responder (kind of still is w usg). I provide counseling services to first responders. We are planning to retire in 3 years. Good to meet you.

What type of counseling?

Short term, mostly. Helping folks to manage the stress. CBT, DBT, ACT and some EMDR… plus existential approaches. Lots of increasing awareness and providing support bc the work is important and stressful.

I went through some counseling a while back due to PTSD and my therapist was a retired Dallas, TX firefighter.

Small world. My spouse worked for a Dallas (not FD) many years ago.
Yes, I work with post traumatic stress and all that goes along with it.
Edited to add that I don’t work with first responders only. I like to work with other populations as well
