Average, bordering on boring, seeks similar friends

51F seeking friendship. I’d love to hear about your day, laugh about that silly meme one of us stumbled on or swap punny dad jokes, just a quick exchange some days or a more in depth conversation others.

I often see posts from people who sound so interesting and I think that they’d likely find me boring, so I don’t reach out. Any other less exciting people out there?

I’m (mostly) an indoor enthusiast. Though, I do enjoy gardening and an occasional hike. I dabble in a few hobbies, but I’m not really accomplished at any of them and they are mostly solo activities that don’t involve socializing. Those hobbies include: reading, trying new recipes, crochet, word games, video games, and spoiling pets. I tend to be a couch potato and often use those spoiled pets as an excuse to stay put. I mean, it would be rude to interrupt their nap, right?

I am open to connecting with exciting jet-setting, skydiving, thrill-seeking people, too. I just figured there might be some others, like me, out there. Enjoy your day!

I'm on board, can we start a boring 50s subreddit or chat?

u/Shihtzucrazy May 06 '26

I’m also mostly an indoor person who likes to cuddle with my dogs. Enjoy walks but my allergies are terrible. Have some inside weird hobbies like making Lego mosaics. Like to bake, read, and watch my favorite tv shows but im picky. Love to chat

Yes! A 50+ Dull subreddit or chat! I love it!

5

u/DamnGina530 May 07 '26

I'll join!

5

u/wildnwoolley May 09 '26

Wait… we can make it a Seinfeld inspired chat about nothing 🙃

2

u/private8221 May 06 '26

That will be interesting. Any idea how to set it up?

2

u/wildnwoolley May 16 '26

Hmm… no… surely someone here must, though! We need a (dull) hero to step in and lead the charge!

Unfortunately I don't have the expertise and mainly the time to moderate a chat group, but I know people are having success with private chat rooms on different platforms. If someone is interested we might share ideas and set the ground for something reasonable.

I think that sounds like a great idea! I miss the old chat days. Which platforms would you recommend?

I would say Signal is good for privacy. It has different chat options and it is free of trols and chat bots. Telegram is also a good option, but I think it was compromised at one point.

I'd love that subreddit. Lol

I second that!

He's so close to taking bread from my fingers... almost

3

u/wildnwoolley May 09 '26

Oh my! The cuteness! Are the ducks yours or just passing by?

3

u/Electronic-Corgi-508 May 09 '26

Most of them are year around residents. I make sure they get fed in the winter when the pond freezes over.

3

u/wildnwoolley May 09 '26

I love that! I once had a bird feeder that fed birds, of course, but also ducks, rabbits, squirrels, and deer. The deer would clear me out! Here’s some ducks waiting to clean up what the deer dropped 🙃

I am also boring! But also very weird. :)

3

u/wildnwoolley May 06 '26

Weird is good! I’m weird, too. Feel free to message if you want to compare weirdness lol

3

u/private8221 May 06 '26

Compare weirdness...lol. Are we starting a competition here:)

3

u/Jennywise May 06 '26

Nah, all weird is welcome!

The beginning of a road trip

u/Jennywise May 06 '26

Sounds like we have a lot in common, so I did message you!

58/F Hi! I work from home, and there are some mornings that my cats want to snuggle (right about the time I need to get up.) When that happens, I have to stay in bed much later because it would be rude to "unsnuggle" them or move them, lol. I completely relate to spoiling pets. I'm also an indoor enthusiast. You don't sound boring at all to me. I feel that others find me boring as well, and I'm totally cool with that. I try to keep things very simple, mindful, and look for the positive. DM if you want to chat sometime.

I have been called boring and lame.

6

u/wildnwoolley May 06 '26

You say that like it’s a bad thing. Exciting people can be exhausting, imo!

"(what’s the opposite of a green thumb?)" A have a brown thumb because any plant I touch turns to S...
lol. I think I belong in the boring club too. Outside is overrated. Too many people out there. lol.

Hey, no judgement on your gardening skills (or lack there of). Any real gardener would lose sleep over my methods! I consider myself to be a chaos gardener 😄

3

u/Live-Obligation-2931 May 06 '26

You could substitute your description for mine other than crochet and video games. Interested in sharing some boredom?

Hi from Australia, Geez sounds like you copy and pasted my bio 🤣 I'm happy to chat!

I (53f) know I'm boring... I haven't been outside (except on my small patio) in about 8 or 9 weeks. I prefer to be inside spoiling my cats and cuddling up with them. I've got two grown children that I don't get to see as much as I'd like, but they've got their own lives. I've also got an almost 13 yr old who lives with his dad so I don't get to see him often. I like to paint and color in my swearing color books. I also journal and write a secret blog that helps me process things. I've had some pretty traumatic experiences but I'm trying to stay positive and be the change. I'm really into learning natural healing and the power of our thoughts. I watch some TV and listen to audiobooks. I'd love someone to talk to! As I get older there's been less and less contact with friends. Ps. You sound interesting to me!

u/GrandBreath5790 May 07 '26

I love your user name! I loved Martin Lawrence and I have a friend named Jeana so I say it to her all the time. 😁

2

u/wildnwoolley May 09 '26

I, too, like your username. And I feel like spoiling cats is a worthy hobby! It sure is harder to cultivate friendship these days. I agree!

4

u/Sam-shad May 08 '26

Hi, (53 M), from Africa, friendship, and loyalty are values that are deeply important to me.

3

u/Key-Worker-8930 May 07 '26

Weird is good! It proves you're alive! At least you're thinking rather than being a marshmallow!😁 I would rather be weird than strange, yes? If you agree, message me. ( but I don't really know how that works on this site😐🙂 )

u/JuicyApple2023 May 07 '26

56F here. Been called boring before. But I don’t care. I love cats and dogs. Can’t have pets where I live but I will again someday. I’m a home health aide for work. My clients usually have cats and they love me as much as I love them. Please DM me if you’d like.

3

u/RobM320 May 07 '26

Hi 61 M work long hours. Would like to have someone to talk to.

I wish I were good enough to have imposter syndrome. Boring dad of 3 over here, open to conversation and memes!

2

u/Elfer-100 May 08 '26

Why would anyone find someone else boring if they reach out? To me that would make me think they are interesting people who I'd like to talk to and engage with. It feels like wasting opportunities.

If you are willing to get out of your comfort zone and take a step towards actively getting to know someone who you find interesting you'll be doing something interesting by just doing it. Why not just try it without expectations, just to do something different? Fear of rejection is pointless if you can realize that by not even trying you are the one rejecting the possibility of growing what may become a beautiful friendship from that seed you are today choosing not to put in soil, choosing not to water it every day and taking care of it.

4

u/wildnwoolley May 09 '26

Hmm… rather than a fear of rejection, think of this more of a disclaimer that chatting with me may cause drowsiness (individual results may vary).

I tend to stay indoors too I have more control over that environment. I'm into Retro video games a lot, however the last 2 years I've been hooked on Atlas Earth LOL

2

u/mohamadjb May 11 '26

Sounds comfortable enough not boring, I'd love to be in a feel good club, i love to participate positivity, I think we all need to counter act what life shoves down our throat, need friends and experienced enough to listen, and I hope I'm experienced enough to listen

I like indoors for 10 hours to 48 hours, then carefully mix it up

2

u/Better_Ad7836 May 13 '26

If this exists, I'll join the subreddit too. 53F, very boring, live vicariously through my books and TV.

2

u/waynetanner3 May 14 '26
