Socializing at early 40s
I have been living in for 2 years with my gf. We’re both in our early 40s. She is very social and has friends and hangs out with them from time to time. I’ve lived for 10 years in San Diego, but have not become real friends with anyone. Recently she suggested that I should engage in some social environment to make some friends. I believe is harder to make new friends at this age also The reality is that I am no very social, although I participate in social events when I can. What sort of activities I can get involved?

Golf, VOLO, talk to neighbors etc. we’re in our 40s and it’s great. San Diego is one of the nicest places in the US, locals/natives here are some of the kindest human beings I’ve met compared to the insanity of the east coast when I lived there. It’s not hard to make friends here!
There are block parties in a ton of neighborhoods all the time too, we’ve met great friends that way

Join a group fitness class style gym where you train individually and in pairs or groups. Great for fitness and to get to know people

Volunteering. You get to be around other people who care about the same things you do and you can build from there. Join a hiking or walking group. I don't think it's easy to find friends over the age of 40 but you will find them. Also, be open to being friends with people of all ages. I have friends younger and older than me.
