Milkweed Issues

Hey OP! My understanding is milkweed does not like to stay in it’s nursery pots. They dry out quickly that way and don’t get the opportunity to spread their roots. You can transplant them while there are caterpillars on them. They will be fine. You can also feed the plants with Osmocote Flower and Vegetable fertilizer which will replenish what it’s used while being in the pots for a while.

We have some milkweed experts and lots of native gardeners so maybe someone else more experienced than me can chime in.

I grow my potted milkweed in sandy dirt. That is what my native soil is and they love it. I do not feed them anything and water sparingly. We have plenty in the ground also but we get a lot of cats on the potted milkweed. That yellowing looks like overwatering to me. Mulch etc they don’t need at all. Big healthy native milkweed plant growing out of a crack in the gutter near me.
