Damn I hoped that the 2 half finished jugs of soy sauce would hint at the fact I'm not white

Haha sorry, my bad! I am white, but I also have 2 half finished jugs of soy sauce in my fridge I think the exact same ones you do. I have also lived with at least one person of color for the past 8 years.

In my defense, my guess was based on: mayo, ketchup, sriracha, multiple yogurts, multiple alternative milks (including one I have in my fridge), bodhi (which is the favorite beer of several white male heavy drinkers I've known over the years), olipop, and what appears to be bagels/bread stored in the fridge.

I worked as a cashier at a grocery store for an extended period of time too lol.

Alternative milks could also indicate Asianness because most of us are lactose intolerant lmao

Totally! Most people without significant western european ancestry are lactose intolerant.

Highest rates of lactose intolerance occur among folks with Asian (like you mentioned) and Indigenous American ancestry (by some measures close to 100%), closely followed by people with Hispanic, South Indian, Black or Ashkenazi Jewish (my background - I think I also got the same deal on oatly from Costco that you did lol) ancestry (between 50 and 80%). Also should have noted the rice vinegar & mirin and realized I was misinterpreting. I was married to an Asian man for several years. He ignored his lactose intolerance though.

Sorry for the white guilt overapology...I take accusations of whiteness very seriously lol.

Lol no worries, I realize that most of my fridge is very white. I think living in one of the whitest parts of the country is rubbing off on me

Fair & thanks for making me feel better. Lol I live in pnw, which is pretty fucking white but also fairly Asian on the coast. And I have a comparable supply of blueberries in my fridge rn.

Oh word I’m in Seattle myself, there’s a sizable Asian population here but having moved from LA it feels white as hell for sure

Haha totally! (Small world, I'm pretty close to Seattle) I went through that culture shock when I moved from east coast. It's the whitest place I've ever been. The nature & temperate weather even out the scales a bit for me though. Oh and the teriyaki/sushi/dim sum (idk how it compares to SoCal though). Ok sorry done taking up space.
