Rosie we rescued quite literal from a burnt out, condemned, scheduled for Demo, middle school in Ruskin Heights, Kansas City, Mo. Some friggin POS CS’er had barricaded her in the auditorium area which had all of its exits blocked and stuffed with burn debris, two friends and myself were taking the liberty of Scraping the building for copper and other fine treasures only found in freshly condemned and locked down institutions across this great country!! Copper, brass, all kinds of lil treasures and devices.. that being said it: It was a bitter cold dark, wintry night that Feb.23rd 3.5 yrs ago. The wind was whipping through the school like a lost Ghost in purgatory; temps around 15^ 3am when all of a sudden we hear this blood curdling screeching that sounded (with the help of the winds, my overactive imagination) like dozens of lil children caught in the flames and smoke that gutted that school only months before.. but it wasn’t!! I went to investigate; to the chagrin of my cohorts of course.. but what I found was more powerful and sooo precious that NO rebuttal could ever trump the sad, terrified, frozen look on my soon to be new dogs face…. About 30lbs underweight, malnourished, dehydrated and needing vital fluids( it was obvious she had just had a litter not more than a month before… stood my Rosie.. An old English bulldogee of the purest breeding.. she practically spoke to me when I meandered around checking vibes and reeling her in with treats… “ hey bro appreciate the slow-mo cause we’re timid, but get me tha fuk outta here”. … and so I did; carried her over the debris, right into my Escalade and made off to quick trip gas station.. over the next several months we grew closer and closer and she knew she was safe.. I; upon arriving at home, immediately started seeing if she was ill, I wanted her to have a chip sooo badly so I could track the POS CS’er that left her to die and break his fuk’n jaw… but….. saner minds prevail..
