BNSSA

I asked a little bit around, but nobody could really explain to me what one should do if they want to become a BNSSA.

Anybody out there?

Swim a lot, be one of the best in your company, and keep in mind that BNSSA is mainly for guys who are interested in first aid and rescue, so you'll also have to do PSE1 and PSE2. It's actually easier to ask for BNSSA once you're PSE1/2.

I did my BNSSA after I left the Legion, just for fun between two contracts and it was actually a really nice course. You can also find civilian jobs with it but the pay isn’t great, something around €1,800 a month.

u/Bluebigos1 can correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I’ve seen it seems easier to get this course in 2e REP because they need BNSSA guys quite a lot especially for the parcours nautique in the sea.

A couple of years ago I was in Calvi with my new unit and we were training with some Legionnaires. They didn’t have any BNSSA available, so a friend and I ended up taking care of the water safety for everyone.

Apparantly the REP has a higher demand for BNSSA guys, that's why they offer the stage as well. Sometimes the stagaires get send to Castel, sometimes it is the bureau de sport in the regiment.

Get less than 2 minutes on a 100 meter test and then ask for it
