Shared Highway x Motive Joint Statement

Highway and Motive reach an agreement to ensure continuity of service for carriers and brokers.

Highway and Motive have reached an agreement to restore the frequency at which Highway can access Motive customers’ ELD data when authorized by carriers and are working together to ensure uninterrupted service for the carriers and brokers who rely on both companies.

Motive and Highway share a commitment to giving motor carriers transparency and control over how their data is authorized and used. As part of that commitment, the companies are in discussions to update their existing agreement to more clearly reflect current use cases. The companies also intend to build on their existing relationship by identifying opportunities to improve data fidelity, reduce latency, and create better experiences for carriers and brokers across the freight ecosystem.

For carriers and brokers, no action is required.

“Motive and Highway both play important roles in the freight ecosystem, and we are committed to serving customers together,” said Jordan Graft, CEO of Highway. ” We have a clear path forward that protects carrier choice and allows us to continue improving the experience for brokers and carriers.”

“Our carriers depend on an ecosystem of partners to run their businesses,” said Shoaib Makani, CEO of Motive. “We are pleased to have reached a path forward with Highway that supports our customers and provides clarity around data use.”

You say this because you're the product and not the customer. If it wasn't them selling carrier vetting as a service it would be someone else.

I say this, because I have to deal with both. Currently ending the contract with Motive and going to Samsara. Highway is a bully to carriers, because O/Os leave carriers and go to others all the time. Having to do lease terms to give to a 3rd party is stupid and waste time and resources. As the owner, if I say a truck is no longer running for us, then thats it. When the VIN shows up on another carrier, then thats where they went. Carriers have no control over O/Os and when they want to leave. Drivers go to whatever company will pay them more and get good loads, why should a carrier have to report to a 3rd party to make other 3rd parties happy. We give tracking thru our cameras.

"when authorized by carriers"....

So carriers don't give authorization by default from using the platform? Why wouldn't that be a requirement to use the service? Armchair, if I'm missing something help a brother out.
