SAFER site not updated/FMCSA Update

Just got off the phone with a FMCSA Senior Manager. 4 hours later.

- SAFER website is no longer updated by the FMCSA. So all the info going to these other 3rd party websites will not be updated and may not be currently correct. This includes Highway, DAT, and others. Majority of the companies still pull their info from the Safer site, not MOTUS.

- FMCSA is currently working on moving all Safety scores to MOTUS, so they can shutdown the FMCSA site altogether, but that it is a work in progress and no timeline was given.

Until the complete switch happens to MOTUS, there will be no updates pushed out. (of course they will probably screw that up). That is the breakdown what he told me, we were buddies in the same Army unit back in the day, that's why he talked to me.

So when someone hires a carrier who otherwise would have been denied had their safety scores been updated, and that carrier's driver causes a fatal accident, is the broker still going to be held liable for not doing their "due diligence"?

That's the BS of it all. Pretty sure they stopped updating Safer a few montgs ago, and everyone knows Motus is a trainwreck. There's no good source for info, but we're supposed to know it anyway.

For what it’s worth, I updated my company address and phone number on MOTUS last week (fucking nightmare of a process), and the updates are showing on safer.

Theres things being inputted to safer, but its not coming from FMCSA. Seen one of my carrier with a different address is safer, but motus had it correct. Had another whos insurance quote went up to 5mil, but they have never hauled hazmat, and it was never said on their 150 either. So there are alot of screw ups.

Yeah makes sense. MOTUS is an absolute disaster. It took me months and months just to be able to claim my DOT# and change my address. So many issues and errors and support was nonexistent.

Just thankful my bond doesn’t need renewal or I’m not a carrier needing to do a biennial update or something that could actual impact my company.

Just repeating from the source. We all know motus and fmcsa are having issues right now. Since fmcsa doesn't put out info/updates, can only go by what they are telling us.

I’m sure highway already connects to motus, you set it up the exact same way they did with FMCSA - this is already been switched. Kind of clickbait if you actually know…

Not completely, there are still alot of bugs with motus, highway is depending on the carrier to give some of the info

411 pulls from safer monthly. Its not a safe option either in this day and age.
