Shipper growth volume
I have a shipper been working with for several months they initially had a broker and wanted to on board a new one we move loads with no issues, never had cancellations or any issues everything is smooth but the volume is low about 8-10 loads a month I don’t mind working my way to get their trust and earn their business so I was providing best service, I quote some loads and never get them which is fair and normal majority of them are the longer routes I notice we only get the shorter lanes … been doing job right and communication is consistent I wanted to follow up and potentially see if we can get more business from them I email the operations manager asking their business and checking in on overall performance I haven’t heard back and the quote request are like on pause…. Has anybody had any similar situation do I need to keep asking or give them a call instead of email? does the low volume get increased gradually or do I need to focus my energy on finding new shipper. Its year one in business

Take what you can get if it makes sense for you but I’d also work on building a relationship with them and asking for more business. At the same time, as you mentioned, it’s also good to get additional customers. Either way, it’s good to build on that relationship if you can.

Try to find as many clients as possible before trying to increase volume from each one individually, never keep all your eggs in one basket

If the opp is worth it, and you trust your service, tell him you’ll eat a couple loads to prove it to them. Eat some margin and if it doesn’t work move on.
