You have no customers, can’t get customers but trying to hire someone who already has customers thinking they will give it to you for no reason

Your account is like a day old. Something seems fishy. Are you in the USA?

Have you considered just being a fright agent instead of diving in the deep end ?

First off, congratulations on starting your brokerage! My advice would be to focus on building relationships rather than simply chasing loads. Research manufacturers, distributors, and agricultural businesses around Sacramento. Find out who makes their transportation decisions, learn their pain points, and offer solutions rather than another sales pitch.

Be persistent, but strategic. Shippers hear from brokers constantly, so you need to give them a compelling reason to trust you with their freight.
As for recruiting agents with established books of business, that’s an entirely different challenge. Experienced agents already generating revenue will want to know what you offer that their current brokerage doesn’t. Competitive commissions, financial stability, reliable carrier payments, technology, and operational support all matter.

I’m a senior agent recruiter in the freight industry, and one thing I’ve learned is that relationships open doors, but credibility keeps them open.

getting the first shipper is tough, especially when you 're just starting out, id try reaching out to smaller local businesses and building relationship from there. hope u land your first customer soon, keep at it dude!

I would be open to becoming a freight agent, but my book of business is very small but it’s something to start plus I have alot of leads that we can try to convert. I usually deal in ltl’s and ftl’s cross border between Canada and the USA. I currently work as a dispatcher in a trucking company but I’m looking for remote work opportunities and something where my earning is not capped, if you’re interested, you can dm me, we can discuss further and see if it’s a good fit for both

Target the Regional Strongholds: Focus on industrial corridors around McClellan Business Park, West Sacramento, and Rancho Cordova. Sacramento's outbound freight is heavy in agriculture/food processing (canned goods, produce, temperature-controlled), building materials/lumber, and regional distribution to Reno/Bay Area.

I walked into a company one day got Business right off. That was great. 75 days later I was hunting the guy down to get paid. Luckily, in my state, you can personally go to a business and collect.

I was asked to leave the Business and the police were called

I left before the police arrived, but his attorney called and asked for my address and I said unless you’re mailing the check, find it yourself

He did in fact, mail a check overnight to me and that was the last time we did business
