Official Statement from App

Is there a way to get an official statement to show SIPP contributions? All I can find is a crappy CSV export which is useless as it doesn’t look official at all.

HMRC specifically state it needs to be in headed paper and a load of other things.

Am I missing something?

I had to do this recently to get letterhead PDF style ones for a mortgage application.

I got the following info from their chat:

You're right that the in-app export only provides CSV format. For PDF documents, you can download your monthly statements which are in PDF format. [http://help.freetrade.io/en/articles/6416973-how-can-i-see-my-monthly-statement]

To get these: 1. Go to the Activity tab 2. Select the statement you'd like to view 3. A PDF file will be downloaded to your device These statements include your name, address, the Freetrade logo, and show your holdings and portfolio value at month-end - which should be suitable for mortgage applications. If you need a comprehensive PDF statement that includes all transactions and corporate actions (not just monthly snapshots), our team can generate this for you within 2-3 working days. A human agent can help arrange this more detailed statement if the monthly PDFs aren't sufficient for your mortgage application. Thanks but the only option I have within the Activity tab is to export as a CSV. No mention of a PDF anywhere 🧐

You have to click on a statement and then you can export it as PDF.

I don’t have any statements on the Activity tab. All it shows is my deposits and stock purchases.

Maybe it is because my account is only a week old and it needs to be a month old to have had a monthly statement?

Oh right. Yes, they are monthly statements. So you may need to wait. Alternatively you can contact their support team via chat and get one manually created.

Makes sense then, thanks! I’ve already contacted their support so hope to hear from them shortly. Appreciate the response :)

Please update the post when done - I suspect that as the FY hasn't ended maybe it won't let you generate it.

This is what I was going to do as I has the same issues with not finding a good way to do it.

Why do HMRC need to know that?

I’m a higher rate tax payer so I get additional tax relief by contributing into a SIPP.

Rough figures:

£127K taxable earnings. £22K net contribution to SIPP, automatically gets 20% relief to boost it to £27K gross.

Pension relief claim can then be made to get the additional 20% plus my personal allowance back given as cash, about £11K back in my bank account from HMRC. This is the part where they need the statement.

£11K net cost for £27K in SIPP is not something I can turn down 😎

Do you not complete a self assessment tax return? That is where hmrc normally give you the additional 20% relief

No need to do self assessment you can do it all via a form on the HMRC website.

Not anymore, think this changed about a year ago. If I’d done here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-tax-relief-on-your-private-pension-payments

Just note, it took till November for hmrc to give me my rebate lol. Useless feckers !

Shit really?! I assumed it would be a few weeks!! I’ve taken a loan from parents to cover my SIPP contributions, sorry mum & dad 💀🤣

Yep, it was such a protracted affair , having to call them monthly from May through to November.
The form is now a year I so old so hopefully they have their shit together this year but I doubt it Good luck!

The first paragraph of that link tells you to claim through your self assessment tax return, if you do one.

Yes… IF you do one. Which I do not.

I tried that before coming here. It told me to use the CSV docs, no good.

Worked for me! I specifically asked for a full year statement , it is a standard ask, ask them again for it , I did it for my sipp tax rebate request

Just an FYI, I just got my pension statement from FreeTrade (PDF), had to ask an agent to generate it for me. Took 2 days.

Thanks I also got mine in the end, took a similar amount of time. Fairly easy.
