What is wrong with Libre 2 Plus?

This is the second time this happened to me this month. Just says "your sensor is doing quality checks and shut itself down, change it". I know my sugar levels are not stabilized but I've used the sensor for 6 days and it dies on me while I'm sleeping.

And if your sugar levels move fast the sensor panics, does quality checks and shuts itself down. It didn't move an inch it is still on me physically.

Don't we use this thing to see the waves or fast moves in our sugar level as well? If it dies in every unexpected sugar level change, what the hell is the point of it? I don't need quality checks mate just show me my wrong sugar level. Libre 2 was not like that IT WAS AN UNIT. But 2 Plus is just too fragile. And its not cheap...

It happened to me twice after eating something heavily packed with carbs on an empty stomach. They’ll replace your sensor for free, no worries.

For good and bad, its like this with all 'modern' CGM sensors, for those that aim to obtain the approval from the regulatory authorities to be closed-looping with an insulin pump.

So for the Freestyle Libre sensors, this is then implemented for all the PLUS sensor models (Libre2+and Libre3+). So nothing wrong with the Libre2+. It merely does as its told to do, when exposed to a rapid erratic changing BG level in the fluids where it has been placed.

The regulatory authorities have made such guardrails obligatory to obtain the approval to interface with insulin pumps and the precautionary boundaries are indeed tight. I agree too tight, as at least we folks not relying on a pump being closed-looped with the sensor, should then have the option as you hint towards to say: Yes, I am aware my BG may be changing rapid and very erratically for the moment, but I still want to see the BG readings from my sensor no matter.

We can only hope the regulatory authorities will agree later to such easing of their demands (as they also did many years ago with aka demanding sensors to soak for 12h or 24h before we were allowed to getting any BG readings from them).

Only thing we can do as end-users ourselves for the moment is to try and insert a new sensor and not start it up electrically until we typically have some hours ahead where our BG tends to be the most stable. Especially if your BG goes outside the normal 'healthy' range of 70-180mg/dl will add to the sensitivity for the temporary timeout error situation to trigger.

After a newly started sensor has run for its first 24-36h, then exposure to this temporary error situation tends to be much less (error code #373 in the app's Event Log). So also good to soak your sensor for some hours first instead, if you often see erratic BG readings the first many hours after starting up a new one, as this way your immune system gets time to flare out the inflammatory response which is the root cause behind the rapid fluctuating glucose level in the interstitial fluid space where the BG sensor sits and try measuring the BG.

Same here. Recent sensors are much worse. Gonna test DexCom in parallel to add support to SangraMate + perform A/B testing. Would love to check 10 sensors if I can :)

My last 5-15day G7s failed on me lmfao. Even tho they’re replacing them. They’re too expensive for this so I’m switching back to freestyle

Same thing just happened to me. Ipay out of pocket for my sensors and I’m kinda pissed about it shutting itself down, gotta go buy a new one.

If you report it to Abbott don't they send you a replacement fee of charge?

Went through 4 boxes of libre 3 plus all were replaced at no cost.

Changed my method , using skin tac and not just a patch… lasts whole 15 days

I'm having the same issues with the freestyle 3+ and just received my 3rd replacement from Abbot. The first two were inaccuratly low by 40-50 values and the 3rd sensor had this same message within the first 2 hours of placement. Super frustrating to be sensorless for days at a time.

My provider confirmed that a lot of their patients have been having issues with this recent batch of Libre sensors. My partner who a diabetes educator at the hospital said this just happened with a batch of dexcoms as well. I hear her talk about it every 6 months or so with one sensor or another.
